Best way to apply paste to my Noctua NH-D14 ?

Hi guys just ordered my last 2 parts for my build to go with my MSI P67A-GD65

2600k Retail
Noctua NH-D14

So whats the best way to put paste on the Noctua im thinking of the 2 line method myself but thought i would ask the exsperts on here.

I wouldn't apply it to the heatsink base. Apply it to the cpu IHS, about 1/2 a pea sized blob usually does the trick.

I usually put a tiny bit on the HS, then grab a sandwich bag from the kitchen and use it to smear over the entire surface, removing any excess so there is just a gray sheen across the whole thing. Then apply blob or line to the CPU spreader and let mavity / pressure work its magic.
 
i just seated my new cooler and but about 2 rice grains on, landed the cooler on it and give it a bit of a wriggle, pulled it off it was all covered pretty well so then strapped it down ;)

+1 sandwich bag is the way forward works a charm
 
Sandwich bag method is proven to give worse temps as it can cause bubbles. Someone posted a link to a ridiculously in-depth article testing and explaining it the last time this topic came up. Just stick some in the middle of the CPU and rely on pressure to smear it out.
