I like Derek W's idea of an Edinburgh meet. But since air tickets go up in price the longer you wait, I'd like to force the issue and come to a decision sooner rather than later.

Here's the main plan:

Meet at 10am on Saturday 14th May at the square plynth behind the Royal Scottish Accademy, here:

We'll be staying on Friday night and Saturday night. We may meet up with folk for golden hour or nighttime shooting - to be arranged later.

Put my name down. Two hours on a train for me to get there. Should manage to stay with a mate in tranent for the weekend.
 
Will depend on travel arrangements/staying somewhere but I'd like to put my name down. If there's a few confirms I'll book too :)

(The hotel and hostel prices are about the same price as London, i.e. expensive! for a budget minded)
 
I've realised that depending on what happens with the football I may not manage to make the 14 / 15th. The season is supposed to finish on the 7th of May but with the possiblility of the SFA / SFL extending the league cos of the postponements over winter or Brechin making the playoffs that weekend would probably be taken up with a fixture. As club photographer I should be there. So put me in as a maybe.
 
This does sound good, but that weekend is the semi-final playoffs in the rugby so unfortunately I cannot commit at the moment.

Found any bargains so far?

Count me in anyway Gaffer.

Flight outbound £35 Friday evening. Only £35 return flight for me is Sunday morning, after that it £60. But I'd like to spend the Sunday there. If accomodation is reasonable, might stay the Sunday night as well...

Anyone hanging around Sunday as well?
 
Do I want to make it a weekend or just a sat-sun job? flights are the same for either but somewhere to stay is going to be fun.
 
I will add a +1 to this again if that is ok, a friend of mine who is a bit of a lurker on here. Maybe he will take the HINT and join up!

So... we have 6 beds in 3 rooms in the shadow of the castle. Who would like to join us?

We'll be shooting in the evening golden hour then if the night is clear, I want to capture the castle against the stars. Then we'll be up and out before dawn for the morning golden hour, so please note that ours is a peaceful resting place for photographers, not a party house!

Priority goes to:

  • People staying both Friday and Saturday.
  • Those who have already expressed a concern about cost.
  • Those who have already put their name down.

Andrew, do you mind letting me know how much the rate would be, either on here on by trust emai? I've left it till this weekend to look for a B&B, but as you're kindly offering, it woud be rude not to consider it. I do tick all boxes!
