I'm picking up a Kindle soon and I'm just making a list of which books to get first.

I haven't read properly in a while, and when I did I only used to read biographies but now I want to get into reading properly.

I'm wondering if anyone here can suggest me some good western themed books, something along the lines of the movie True Grit would be great.

So, any suggestions? :)

Cheers

Used to love Larry McMurtry. Great writer who had penned some absorbing books about old and new west. The Lonesome Dove series is very good series of the old west. Also enjoyed Anything For Billy. His new west books are great too.

Cormac McCarthy's border trilogy is great starting with All the Pretty Horses - though be warned it can take a while to get into as he does not use punctuation apart from full stops. Takes a while to get the words flowing properly. And of couse you need to read No Country For Old Men. The oscars the Coen's got for adapting it, was basically for being able to use the copier.

Cheers for that. Will have a look into them! Not sure about the ones with only basic punctuation though, I can imagine it being frustrating for someone that has little patience like me. :D

Thanks
