I've finally setup my stereo system for dedicated music appreciation.

It's not a patch on some but saying I'm using an 18 Technics CD player, new NAD C355BEE Amp and some old Wharfedale Modus 8's it sounds great.

I have hundreds of albums mostly rock from the 70's upwards but would like some other types of music to see how it sounds.

I'm into most types of music bar country so suggest away. Looking for stuff which really comes alive on a half decent setup :)

For Folky type music you could try

The Decemberists
Iron and Wine
Tunng
Two Door Cinema Club
Bombay Bicycle Club

You could try Biffy Clyro for more modern rocky music. The album Puzzle is excellent.

For female vocals try the new Adele album or anything by Mazzy Star

A slightly more indie/dance type style you could try The XX, Delphic, Miike Snow, Postal Service.

The Nightmare on Wax album called Though So is also excellent indeed.

Great suggestions :) I have a couple of those albums. I especially like the new Adele album.

Linkin Park - New Divide (A capella)

Just one song, but it sounds great.

I'll give that a go :)

Metal: Lamb of God - Sacrament
Punk: NOFX - So long and thanks for all the shoes
Electronic: Rob Dougan - Furious Angels (in particular "Instrumental")
Rap: Haiku D'etat - Self titled (in particular "Non compos mentis")

That's the 4 albums I tend to bend out first on a new stereo, very well produced and excellent sounding mix.
