New carbon steering wheel for my 911, only problem is, it's not round!?

Flat bottom wheels are crap, I hate mine and it's one of the better ones. That looks crap, get shot and replace it with a nice Momo, simple, lovely in feel and roundy round!

Why are you paying $2k for a steering wheel? What is wrong with the factory one?

Because that's how much they cost?

A carbon wheel from Porsche is about the same. These are much better quality leather/carbon than what Porsche uses and they still use the same "core" wheel from Porsche anyway.

If you've driven a 911 you've probably noticed how thin the steering wheel is in comparison to many other marques. Personally I like the thicker wheels and this fits the bill perfectly.

Housey, it's actually not as flat as the picture makes it appear, this wheel has a flat base but not like say the R8 does. The damage to the wheel really seems to accentuate the shape. Momo make great motorsport pieces but they're not what I'm looking for here.

Clearly, and the pictures show it ;)

Must be gutted though, more so that you'll have to wait for a replacement!

Your car, you get to chose the wheel :)

If you've never tried to bend a steering wheel you'll know what sort of punishment that went through to get like that

Is the actual wheel out of shape though or has it just been mangled and scratched

You can see from the picture that it's actually oval shaped now and isn't even flat. There's a 4" difference between the sides if you lay it flat.

It looks like a wheel that has been in a crash, no way the damage came from a Fed-Ex guy dropping it.

Oh I know it hasn't been dropped, it's been run over by something extremely heavy. You don't bend 8mm thick steel structures easily!
