Thanks work - Rubbish hire car

What would a Punto not do that another car would?

Keep me both comfortable and more stable than a shorter wheel-based car (and more stable than a lighter car). Whilst also allowing me to get to the other end without feeling utterly shattered.

For example, I've just driven to the Alps and back, whereas I (and the people in my car) arrived fine, awake, happy, pain and stress free, my friend and his passengers arrived flustered, later, stiff, and sick of road and wind noise.

I took my 330d, they took a Yaris.

I'd refuse that car also. I'd semi-happily go in a Focus/Golf/Leon/A3 but nothing smaller.

[Edit] Actually the Bravo, if a decently powerful engine, wouldn't be absolutely dreadful but i'd still not be happy.

Providing me with a Punto or Nissan note and expect me to drive 500-700 miles into the European mainland is NOT providing me the right tools for the job. Yes they are providing something, but not the right tools.

That's like asking me to provide a backbone network infrastructure here at the office and giving me 5 8-port Belkin switches. Yes I could do something, but it wouldn't be right.
First of all that's a rubbish analogy- He's not being given a Ka. He's being given something Focus-sized at least.

Second, If your boss is telling you to put a backbone network infrastructure in and only gives you a copper gigabit switch when what you wanted was 10 gig fibre, then refusing to do it because you disagree is stupid and quite likely to put your job at risk I'd have thought?

Is it from Enterprise by any chance?

If you reject it, they'll probably give you a Mk5 Astra instead. For some reason Enterprise count the 1.2 Note and the 1.8 Astra as equivalent.

I agree that the Punto is Fiesta class but the Note is not even though it derives from a Micra.

It relates to the Micra in a similar way that the Xsara Picasso relates to the Xsara. There is a very considerable difference in leg room and space.

My wife and I took a Note for a test drive before deciding on a C3 Picasso (which is based on the Citroen C3). The Note wasn't bad at all. The C3 Picasso edged it only in that its ride was a little superior and the Exclusive had better specs than the top of range Note. I would hate to do a long trip in a C3 or a Micra but the C3 Picasso has proved very comfortable indeed on long trips and I suspect the Note would be vastly superior to a Micra in the same way.

Rental company is Aviva.

I flew last time and it took me 24 hours to get home, granted that was mostly due to snow but I'd still rather be driving than stuck at airports. The flights change at Amsterdam so almost 2 hours in the air plus waiting for 2 planes.

Print the above quote out & stick it to your dash.

When your tearing your hair out in traffic, you can remind yourself how awful airports are.....

Well I'm driving there on Sunday, having been to Europe twice before I don't remember sitting in much traffic.

I ain't getting on no plane fool!

I've only done a 180 and 150 mile stretch in our Punto and TBH it wasn't that bad. No worse than my Octavia overall... not sure if that is a thumbs up for the Punto or a thumbs down for my car :p

Then again a rental is unlikely to have cruise which I think makes a huge difference on any long trip.

Bravo should have cruise, Blue&Me Microsoft Media (take a memory stick with MP3's and it'll play them), climate control and if you get a T-Jet (petrol) 120, 150 or a M-Jet 120 or 150 it's not the end of the world.

1.4 N/A 90bhp petrol or 1.6 105bhp Eco model and I'd be looking to walk it.

if it's a fiat grande punto those are alright :D

GF has one and it's a good city car, I'd not want to do a massive journey in one though unless it was a 120 Sporting (suprising decent for it's power) or the Abarth.

Ideally you really should have something bigger though.
