Hi

I currenlty have a Sony Erickson Cybershot C905. My contract will shortly expire and I'm not sure what to go for. As the only camera I have is the one on the phone I'd place video capture and photography as my top priorities.

I'm very pleased with the photographs this phone takes. Any suggestions for something which would at least equal it for photos and beat it for videos?

only 2 options imo

nokia n8 - easily the best camera on a phone (incredible tbh) and has a xenon flash , software not as good as android or IOS though

iphone 4 - bloody great , bloody expensive (if all you need is photos...)

if you dont need all the geeky things a smarthphone bring though then i would also strongly consider just switching to a rolling contract (will save you cash) and keeping your c905 because it still takes great photos

could also wait to se if SE or samsungs next flagship android phones turn out ok , the x10 and galaxy s have good cameras but are missing the vital flash

I agree, keep it if you don't need any other features.

Otherwise...

1. The Nokia N8 (Massive 12mp sensor for dynamic range + c.zeiss lense)
2. LG Optimus X2 (v.impressive 1080p video capture + decent 8mp stills, not out till march)
3. iPhone 4 (Decent 5mp shooter with 720p)

There was a good gsmarena picture comparison review but I assume LG forced them to take it down/remove youtube vids :D

All camera phones are weak, I'm impressed you put up with them tbh :) That said, the best site by a mile to see the reality of using them is here: http://www.flickr.com/cameras/ find the top models you have available and look them up on flickr and you should be able to find a phone that matches your expenditure requirements with the desired picture results.

All camera phones are weak,

going to have to expand on that to be taken serious tbh

whats weak about having a camera in my phone that is available for use everywhere that i go and which takes good enough photos and videos for everything that i need ? and whats weak about being able to share these photos instantly with friends and family from wherever i may be ?

anyone could go buy a 'proper' camera and learn to take photos but unless you carry it around 24/7 which is inconvenient then you miss out on so so many great photo opportunities
