Interesting documentary about cannabis

I don't take drugs, but in these days of cost cutting by governments, why not legalise cannabis instead of closing hospitals

There actually is probably more chance of something being done about it by writing about it on an internet forum than writing to an MP.

I assume that you are being sarcastic? The fact is that almost no-one writes to their MP about such things, and the few that do are so clearly out of their trees that said MP is safe ignoring them. If five hundred clearly sane constituents wrote in then it would be entirely a different matter. Someone I know was talking to their MP about speed cameras, and why the MP supported them when they are clearly unpopular. The MP asked if the other person had any ideas how many letters he had received asking for them to be removed. The answer? Two.

They should probably just legalise it and regulate the sale to safer low strength types and use the tax income to fund mental health projects and better border control to limit the incoming illegal stuff.

This is assuming there is a link between weed and mental health which afaik isn't proven

This is part of the problem - there isn't enough research being done. You know scientific facts, which the government doesn't seem to like, if they don't fit in with their policies.

I guess you are being humouros, but serioulsy, there's mountains of stuff written about this on the internet . And probably no mountains of stuff being sent to an MP. Flip this around - if as many people that ranted on the net actually DID somethign instead of ranting then I would say the chances would be higher.

No. The government ignore all scientific advice on the matter so writing to an MP is pointless.

they ignore scientific advice as so far the voting public aren't swayed on the issue, and prefer to keep the status quo.

If the voters make it clear they want change they'll change the laws against, for, hell the science doesn't even matter if there's votes in it.

Didn't they change the rules recently so you don't have to be a doctor to be on the drug advisory council?
