Can someone talk me out of the 195 480 deal!!

Excellent buy lol. may not be as cool and quiet as a 570 though.

Yeah as above, you have 470, i wouldnt bother. hold on till next gen.

Not worth it seeing as you've already got a GTX470 with an aftermarket cooler and overclocked already to past GTX480 performance!! Does your 470 actually struggle with anything at that resolution?

You put a VF3000 on your 470 - I'm assuming this was due to the noise that the 470 made.

The VF3000 for the 470 does't fit the 480 so you'd be back to a loud, hot GPU again.

All of a sudden your £195 480 is a £235 480 (making another assumption about you buying a second VF3000) and you've still only gained a few extra frames which you didn't need anyway.

470 doesn't really struggle, but I plan to go SLI eventually after investing in this dam expensive PSU. Can't go SLI with the 470 and VF because of the size.

Then again, I guess 2 x 480's might not work on this psu and would be like sitting next to a vacuum cleaner.

I was gonna start a thread like this too :)

460 to 480 is a bigger step, though, even if the 460 is clocked fairly well...

So, could everyone emphasise just how hot and noisy the 480 is? Surely no-one would go from a cool and quiet 460 to a power-drinking heat-pumping wind-turbine like the 480, would they?

No way we are talking you out of this one!

Buy buy buy buy buy buy buy!!!!!

If anyone has anything less than this card, they should buy it now!

Our systems are fairly similar...

if your benching and have the fan on full, and the noice is anything like the 470 (which people tell me it is) it is ridiculous.

However, normal gaming card doesn't get too hot as long as you keep the volts low I guess.

As an earlier poster quite rightly said, I would be slapping another Zalman cooler on the 480, which pushes the price up to £245. Couldn't possibly go back to a noisey hot card again.

So yeah, sell the 470 for 170 ish (with cooler attached) and then a few extra fps for £80.

Is it realllllllllllllllllly worth it?

Not when you look at it that way.

Well, for people with a VF3000F, surely this upgrade is a good idea because your Zalman cooler will work on this card? =D

The cooler wont work on non GF100 cards, so grab a GTX 480 to make the best of your shiny custom cooler and sell the GTX 470!

You won't be going SLI on an Asus P5Q Deluxe.

That motherboard is Crossfire only.
