there are seperate versions for 470 and 480
 
If you didn't have the GTX470 .. I would have said buy it... but in your case there is no point..it's a minor upgrade and not worth it for you.

I think the 6970s (flashed 6950s) are better in Crossfire than the 480s in SLI but don't take my word on it.

OP, don't do it, it's not worth the hassle. You'll sell your current graphics with the cooler fitted on at loss, probably £150 or so (just had a quick look at the MM) and will have to cope with the noise and temps of a 480 (and getting an aftermarket cooler was surely reasoned by the noise and temps) that are even worse than a stock 470.

x2 480s for less than £400, a damn good deal if you ask me. I paid that much for just one on release!

I'm considering getting another one just for the lolz.
 
The only sensible criticism that you can throw at it is that it's a loud card, if you can cope with that or plan to fit an aftermarket cooler then it's an absolute bargain.

Heat for some may be a bigger factor as the extra heat may make overclocks unstable. I agree though its a great card for the price. If i was buying now i would get one as my case would cope easy and my psu also.
 
Dam, Xmass has been and gone, l wonder if l can get my Xmass present early this year, says to Mrs "Darling have l told you, you look realy lovely lately" she replies "what you after" :(
