Just wondering about peoples thoughts on this. I'm considering buying a refurbed time capsule from the apple store. I've been told that apples refurbs are normally really good quality.

But with regards to the Time Capsule. I'm just worried that the life on it will be shorter than if I buy new.

No qualms about it at all, 'refurb' means like new, except it comes in a brown box. You get the full warranty with it.

my time capsule was a refurb unit.

Get the 2tb previous generation one for £254

absolute bargain.

As for it lasting shorter, think about it, why was it returned in the first place ?

Almost certainly because the HD failed, in which case the refurbishment will be fitting a new HD.

so in that respect it will be good as new.

Taken from Apple:

" In addition, improvements in antenna design give you up to 50 percent better Wi-Fi performance and up to 25 percent better range than with the previous-generation Time Capsule."

I didn't know this til a few days ago, when it occurred to me that they hadn't changed the AE and TC for ages. Although obviously they had!

Mine's the previous generation and a great bit of kit. I'd buy another.

Just know that when you buy from Apple's Refurb store that you agree that your product may have minor cosmetic damage. I bought a iMac 27" from the refurb store and it was just like new, apart from the fact that they packed the wrong version of iLife!
