Are We Witnessing the Start of a Global Revolution? Political Awareness.

It is kind of standing up when they've attacked the buildings belonging to the ruling party and the police which have been a key tool of the authoritarian regime. Of course, I'm against the destruction of private property and the looting.
Damage public buildings = public pays. It's a stupid thing to do.

The second any protest turns violent, or resorts to looting, the cause is lost.

Is it so wrong to stand up for your self? Being counted and saying "i'm not taking this anymore!"
It depends if you're being constructive or not.

A perfect example of unconstructive protest would be the student fees riots here in the United Kingdom; a bunch of selfish middle class mindless idealist idiots unwilling to make a fair contribution towards the cost of an education that most of the world's population could only dream of, opposing a new fees system that is more progressive than the one it replaces and offering no alternative at all.

Please don't equate the student fees riots with events of the like unfolding in Tunisia and Egypt.

No. We're witnessing a load of violent thugs causing trouble, nothing new there.

If you are talking about student protests - maybe.

If you are talking about Egypt - you are completely wrong. I think people in the middle east have had enough of being oppressed by long standing dictators with interest solely in lining their own pockets.

This is a really good video.

Things have been happening for a long time, the only thing that doesn't change is that things don't stop changing.

We're largely only aware of what is reported or what 'they' want us to see, cbs, fox news etc.

The users of violence will only play into the very hands that want that kind of reaction.

"We will not be silenced, whether you're a Christian, whether you're a Muslim, whether you're an atheist, you will demand your god damn rights, and we will have our rights, one way or the other! We will never be silenced!"

Powerful words right there, actually sent a chill down my spine. Good luck to them all :)

The looting part, fair enough. That has nothing to do with protest however the violence is a grey area. Violent protests in the UK are not needed. However in a place like Egypt or Tunisia you have a different situation. A lot of freedoms and rights repressed, a population under a lot of stress. I don't believeve peaceful protests would have had much of an effect on the those two countries unlike a violent uprising which means the regime has to take notice.

Regardless of people's reasons, raising hell, harming innocent people, trashing things and getting yourself shot doesn't seem the best way of going about things.

Fantastic video.

What if there's no alternative? What if the people of North Korea decided they'd had enough? They could hardly ask nicely to be treated fairly, could they?

Note: I'm not advocating deliberate harm to innocent people and causing unnecessary damage.

Sometimes governments need to be overthrown with force. However I'm 100% with you in regards to looting / destruction of private property / harming of innocent people.
