Hi everyone! a friend of mine wants to know which gpu to upgrade to now his old 8800gts 320mb has finally died! he is not very adventurous when it comes to tweaking and wont be overclocking and runs his e6600 at stock 2.4ghz my dilema is what would be the best upgrade for him before the cpu bottlenecks the gpu and makes it pointless going for higher end graphics?
all he plays is bfbc2 on a 32" tv @1280x720.
hope someone can shed some light on this for me asap as he is lost without his pc :-(

Really depends what game he plays as to wether the cpu will be bottle necking him, something like a 5770? I don't really know what kind of price they are going for now adays though.

If he doesn't have any interest in oc or tweeking and only plays a certain game I'd suggest getting the cheapest alternative to what he already has, he hasn't experienced dx11 so there is no point spending extra to get it,
4850/70 or a 8800gt of the mm or bay

solved! got him a second hand gainward gtx260 golden sample off the bay and he is well pleased as he can max out his games at the res he plays at. anything more would have been a waste of performance really!

If he wants to save money or wants to use the pc while other card is on its way he can always try the oven trick. I've done it (as shown in this thread) and simply removed the heatsink, cleaned the thermal paste from the card and cooked it at gas mark 6 for 8 minutes. Now it works like a champ (and overclocks like hell )

If you/he are interested in trying it I'll post the instructions on how to do it :)
