Hi...I'm just about to order the items below and would like your opinions or suggestions on my selection(s) before I place the order.

I've opted for a H67 mobo for this computer - I will need two computers - one will eventually be used for gaming/oc'ing and image editing, while the other will be for used image editing and just regular mundane use.

I'll just use the chip gfx for the time being ( to save a bit of dosh) on the H67 mobo and get a P67 mobo & gfx card for the second machine which will also allow full oc'ing.
I've also opted for the 2500k as currently they are such a good price rather than a 23/2400 which would probably suffice for my non-gaming needs.

Just one question...would I be better off spending a little more and going for a P67 based mobo and stick in an el-cheapo gfx card to link to the monitor, rather than the on-board H67 chipset?

Suggestions welcome...

Bummer...just noticed that the 2500k I've chosen is OEM...does that mean only 1 year warranty and will I need a heat sink?

I would change the ram to the item below:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-104-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

Also your cpu can't be overclocked on the H67 series motherboard.

Yep...I realise the cpu can't be oc'd on the H67 mobo...it's only for basic stuff and image editing so I'll see if I can get away without having to buy a gfx card...the second machine I have to build is the one I'd choose for oc'ing.. I can always build the new one with a P67 mobo and swap the 2500k into the P67 case and purchase maybe a 2300 or 2400 for my non-games machine!
Thanks for the heads-up on the RAM.

Thanks for your reply!

So one of those cards would be better than the processor gfx chip for basic work? If so, I'd go for the P67 card - it's just I want to keep the costs down on this machine but long term, it makes sense to go that way!

No, its actually slower than the onboard gpu, i must have read your post wrong, thought you were going to then buy another motherboard and GPU for this machine later on? but its actually for a second pc.

so keep the spec, change the ram to what I suggested, and add a cooler, or get a retail cpu.

No probs...I'm building two different machines so it is confusing.

The reason I initially chose the H67 mobo is that I'll only be using the computer for editing images and general use so, it won't be oc'd and will be straight out of the box specs.
The second one I'll be building will be a P67 based mobo plus 2500k with a decent gfx card for gaming, oc'ing etc and with a similar build to the first one.
I don't think I'll need a 2500k for this first machine but I might as well install it and swap it later for a 23/2400 when I build that one.
I had thought about going for a lower spec'd ( maybe AMD) set up but I would probably just have to upgrade further down the line which would be extra hassle so, I might as well go for this system.
I've changed the spec slightly so if you could give it the once-over for your opinion, I'll get this ordered and hopefully have it running next weekend!

By all means suggest anything extra I'll need to do the build as it's my first attempt at a full build. ( SATA cables etc)

nothing to add, amazing that you can get all that for £500!!!

Absolutely amazing and the best part is that the computer will be far, far better than anthing from PCW or the likes, at nearly double the price and it's expandable too !

Will I need thermal paste and any extra cabling? I can't think of anything more frustrating than having to wait for missing bits that I'll need to finish the build but never thought about!
