Rift: Planes of Telera Beta

Oh nice, not sure if it's worth it. Do they email you the code for the head start or what?

Yes, i ordered the CE from Game about a week ago and on Friday they sent me an email with a code. They also mention the head start and that i will have access to the game on the 24th of Feb. They then say they will send further instructions a few days before the 24th to tell me what i need to do.

Great, will there be a ocuk guild? And hopefully a voice server? Really cant wait to get stuck in, convicned a few of my friends to get it also.

If you order from game do you get it delivered also? like the contents, usb/mousepad, but the code gets delivered online?

As much I'm positive about the game, that pricing plan has annoyed me. I live in Paris, but have UK banking, but still means I'll have to pay the overinflated Euro price. I have a UK address still, but my bank details are regiestered here as I now rent out my UK property.

I never understand how they can justify extra charge for Euros. £8.99 is only €10.50ish.

I know Trion aren't the only ones who do this. Blizzard are the same.

Yep. You'll get the boxed game and all the extra CE stuff around the time of release. Not sure how it comes but I'm hoping its in a nice box. :p

The 8GB Rift USB key makes it worth getting the CE alone. But the other stuff looks cool too. I dont use a mouse pad, but the art book and soundtrack look cool.

Right so for the OcuK guild we have:
Monkeymatt
Joop
spengos
Range
[Cas]

Anybody else interested? I will try and set up a little website soon(It will be a free one) although if any of you guys want to you could set it up as I have quite abit of stuff to do today/tomorrow.

is it the CE that you only get the foundations pricing and early access thing?

The digital pricing can't undercut the shelf price, so the extra they add for shipping to retail, tax, import duty, etc, has to also apply to the digital purchase. Of course this explains why US is cheaper but not the difference between pounds and Euros. Maybe there are further hoops to jump through for Euros I dunno. As you say, Trion aren't the only ones that do it. Blizzard, Steam and many others do it, so I'm guessing there's a good reason.

Is it not possible to just buy with the currency set to GBP? Or maybe you could get a friend from the UK to buy time cards and post them to you? :)

No, I think the Founders pricing is available to anyone. As long as you subscribe to the pricing before 15th March 2011.

Founder’s Subscription: For a limited time, Trion Worlds is pleased to offer Founder’s Subscription pricing. If you choose a subscription plan by 3/15/2011, you’ll be able to pick one of the special pricing plans listed below. You’ll get to keep this special pricing as long as you retain an active subscription to RIFT.

i might join too. need more people though. i suggest u try and get others fromd ifferent forums to join

Well the thing is I was thinking of starting it off with just us OcUK'ers and then perhaps letting other in later, plus considering at this stage very little is known(Such as server and race) it isn't easy to recruit.
We now have:

Monkeymatt
Joop
spengos
Range
[Cas]
Talon
Jonneymendoza possibly.

I realised I have less to do than I thought, so I might be able to set something up today.

'Rabble Rabble Rabble'

Woah there mcnelly. Untwist those knickers and put your toys back in the pram.

Rift is nothing like EQ1.

I did not say Rift was anything like EQ, i said as an ex-EQ player who has been unable to get any mmorpg to 'stick' again, what i have played of the Rift beta makes me feel nostalgic about my experience with EQ. Thats my, personal, experience, seemingly based on a lot more play time evidence than your rant.

Rift is not a....I didn't get that far so I can't say.

I condensed this quote down to all that was needed.

If you don't like WoW however, this is not the game for you | the majority of mmo players

Wow, you need to extricate your head from your backside and stop trying to talk for 'the majority' of a market you clearly know nothing about.

Its' a very condensed and streamlined version of WoW.

Thats would be like taking a can of Tuna and dropping it down a black hole crushing it to a singularity just to get that extra lil-bit-o space efficiency. You can not further condense and streamline the most condensed and streamlined game of all time :p

Wow, overeact much? My issues were with the game, I didn't attack anyone here, and everything I said is true, so why are you getting snippy with me?

I didn't say you said it was like EQ, someone read your comments and thought that was what you were inferring, and I can understand why. I ensured they knew it was nothing like EQ, which is true.

I got to lvl 18 or 20, I can't remember. Doesn't matter, because I got to see most of Rift. I certainly got far enough to make a valid evaluation on it. Condensing what I said down makes absolutely no difference whatsoever, doesn't give you a valid argument, and only serves to make you look angry for little reason.

I said that my statement won't be true for everyone. I made it clear its a generalisation. You chose to ignore that. I stand by those comments, for the vast majority of people what I said will be spot on. If you like WoW, chances are you'll like Rift. If you don't like WoW (and by that I mean didn't like the vanilla either) chances are you won't like WoW.

That's the first thing you've said that had some semblance of substance, and even then, you're wrong. Because Rift done it. Less races, less starting areas, more linearity, you can't enter any buildings, the capital cities are tiny compared to WoWs, the soul system is a convoluted take on WoWs talent trees (convoluted because theres so much cross over and little synergy between the souls) Trion ripped the rogue combo point combat from WoW, they even went as far as to rip the fatigued bar. Thats only the tip of the iceberg.

You're mad only because I'm critical of Rift. You don't have an agrument outside of personal attacks, you can't pull me up on anything I've said because everything I've said is true. I'm giving you reasons for what I'm saying, you're just throwing out personal attacks and frothing at the mouth. But to show I wasn't just here to slam Rift, I handed out a beta key with 25 uses for anyone interested so they could see for themselves.
