what are some good kitchen knives

I have a cheapish 'Chicago Cutlery' set but they rust up in the dishwasher (it's a good bosch one) and don't hold a blade very well. I also have a couple Wusthofs Gourmets which are better but the label came off one of them.

What are some really good ones that aren't a total rip-off? I want a whole set with steak knifes and all that.

Globals are good, very cheap in costco also.

Victorianox are the best bang for buck knives. In my opinion you wont find better for the price.

You could try a Kyocera High Tech Ceramic knife. Albeit maybe a bit on the expensive side

Global (which i (the missus) have atm) or Sabatier (used in a kitchen) are good choices.

My mam managed to get a couple of ceramic knives from either Aldi or Lidl which i have used and where bally sharp and good ofr cutting. Am not ***** enough to head to those outlets, so not got any (altohg have her on te hlook out in case they come back in ...hehe)

Another vote for Global - very expensive, but will last. Make sure you don't buy them from the bay, as there are a lot of fakes around

I've got a set of Globals which are great. I've used ceramics before and personally didn't prefer them to metal, but it's a personal thing. Get down to a large department store and play with some ... then go buy them online . Beware forgeries online, though - they are VERY common.
