Dead Space 2 .

Dogs jumping through windows still ranks as #1 **** my pants moment in a video game. DS1 & 2 has moments close but not close enough.

yeah +1, picked up re1+re2 to tide me over until dead space 2 was released, the dogs jumping through the window didn't quite have the same impact as it did when i was younger, but as i couldn't remember exactly where it happened, i still managed to jump six feet when it did. (the camera angles in those games were superb for scares.)

I don't think Resident Evil 2 is that scary anymore, it just doesn't have the sound design that Dead Space does.

I was just tense throughout the entirety of chapter 10 on Dead Space 2.

I'd agree.

But if you put it in perspective, Resident Evil came at the turn of 2D to 3D games and dogs jumping through windows was not something you could even expect to happen when you first ever played it.

Technically though Alone In The Dark did it first, but perhaps not quite as effectively.

I think Dead Space is more what Resident Evil should have become than what Resident Evil 5 turned out to be.

Dead Space 2 is just pants crappingly scary...i dont think any other game has come close to the level and sheer amount of scariness in this superb game.

Actually the first condemned game for the 360 was pretty scary but DS2 takes the proverbial biscuit in all honesty....its scares the living bejesus out of me...already played 3 chapters and im bricking every level literally...doesnt help that im playing it in near darkness lol.

The scariest part for me was the last 2-3 chapters where that monster that keeps regrowing its limbs is chasing you. Totally hate the feeling of being chased

Hells bells. That was the scariest bit for me in Dead Space 1. I'm not best pleased to read that those monsters are back again.

I said that about the original Dead Space. Resi Evil 5 was a complete let down and Dead Space has definitely taken 1st place for best survival horror game.

I really need to get this, Dead Space was the best Horror game I've played since the PSX days.

I always used to hate the feeling of being chased, but now I've come to love to hate it :D.

Dino Crisis was the main culprit for making jump out my skin :D.

I've not seen one yet and I'm on chapter 13!

I love the variation of the enemies on this compared to the first one, including the new type of babies and children based monsters, pushing the boundaries of whats acceptable in a game! The enemies that hide behind boxes and objects and charge you are for me the really tense ones to actually have a fight with. I can deal with something running at speed towards me quite easily, but having to really watch the environment makes it a lot more scary. Theres some extremely tense sections throughout the game and playing in the dark actually makes it less jumpy in fairness as you can spot movement easier compared to if youve got a light glaring your screen lol.
