Hi All

I have a mirror I want to hang nice and flush on the wall, and want to use the type of fittings which attach to the back of the mirror and have a raised keyhole type slot to go over the head of a screw in the wall, like the ones on the link below:

http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=341&filter=keyhole

However I'm struggling to find anywhere in the uk that sells them, is there a particular name for this type of bracket I should be searching for? Or can anyone point me in the right direction?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks for the link but it's not quite the right thing, those fit to the mirror/picture and the slotted piece sticks out the side/top and goes over a screw but is visible when the mirror or whatever is hung on the wall, I want something where the whole fixing is hidden when the mirror is hung.

You could always make your own! A small piece of Aluminum plate (even a coke can cut out and doubled over should be suitable) Cut to shape and holes drilled out.

I know it's heath robinson, but I couldn't find exactly what you were after either :)

I did think about making my own but it's the raised bit for the screw head to slot into that is the problem, it would be pretty tricky to make or at least to make in a sturdy way.

I have seen various people using key hole router bits but it seems a little much work for simply hanging a mirror, especially if I could find these blooming fixings! lol

They always come with the particular mirror. Since they use a specific high strength glue, they would come out that way from the factory. Good luck in finding them! I doubt your search would be fruitful!

What about mounting plates (fourth from the bottom)
You mount one on the frame, and one on the wall and they interlink nicely

Our local DIY store stocks them, but have bought them from B&Q, Wickes, Homebase, Focus before now

Bear the weight of the mirror in mind. You don't want the thing falling down - especially if it's fixed to a plasterboard wall.

Those fixings are exactly what I used to hang my bathroom mirror. The glass is glued to a sheet of MDF and the plates are mounted in small recesses in the wood. When it's hung there's nothing visible.

I've definitely seen them and used them in the past, the ones I want (like the ones on the link I posted) don't use glue, they are screwed into the object you are mounting, so can't see any reason why they wouldn't be available.

They seem quite good though most of the ones I've seen (other than on the link you've given me) had four crews in each part of the bracket, I'd like to minimise the amount of drilling into the walls, hence wanting to use the type i linked to as they only require a single screw in the wall, but if I can't fidn what I want they may well be the best alternative.

This won't be a problem the mirror isn't all that big and the walls are lovely good old fashioned bricks and mortar.

Yes, but I don't have recesses in the wood and to make them would be a lot more work than just using the type of fittings I linked to originally as they can jst be screwed to the back and the raied area gives enough room for the head of the screw in the wall to slot in.

Thanks for the link, sadly they are one of the only similar alternatives I@ve found , and they are currently unavailable, they did look good though.

I might give them a call later to see if they have anything similar.

Personally I'd take the time and recess the plates, that way the mirror will sit flush against the wall for it's entire height rather than being against the wall at the bottom and standing proud at the top.

I might well have to take that course, just puzzled as tyo why I can't find the fixings I've been looking for.

The ones that I linked to earlier are available on the bay : Item number: 280620880265

here too : Item number: 120551820546
