I'm in the middle of planning a HTPC build for someone, but haven't really decided yet on the SB i3 or the 1st gen i3...

Architecture wise in terms of both graphic and CPU wise the SB i3 is better, but is let down by the lack of overclock comparing to 1st gen i3 which would easily overclockable to 4.0GHz. Also, the SB i3 is quite a bit more expensive...

Sidenote: FarCry 2 is one game that take advantage of extra cores in the Anandtech bench...with the 'dual-core' i3 2100 beating the X4 955BE on it...I'm speechless...

It's so annoying that the H67 boards are so expensive when they can't overclock jacks, and the SB i3 only got Intergrated HD2000 graphic not HD3000...what a joke :mad:

Don' think there's going to be a K version for the i3. And even if it
does, it doesn't help when used on a H67 board, plus comes with a higher price tag as well.

The SB i3's don't support turbo boost so overclocking (k series or not) is out of the question.

Depending on what you want the machine for these CPU's offer a decent alternative to the lower end Phenom X4's.

Meh, as I said, Phenom II is still the better choice.

4 cores, so will help for when games become more core dependant, and can be overclock easily to around 4GHz - when it will beat an i3 I'm fairly sure.

surely the old 1156 i3s would be better alround when compared to these chips? the overclocking ability alone will outdo any chip benefits of 1155? perhaps im wrong anyone know?
