José James is probably my favourite artist that would fit into that category.

He has written some lyrics for previously instrumental standards, and some more hip-hoppy stuff.

Red Clay with the Soil and Pimp Sessions:

Park Bench People:

Damn it, he is SO good.

EDIT: Lay You Down:

  • Aesop Rock - Lyrical genius and crazy guy. Aesop Rock - Daylight
  • Blue Scholars - First 2 albums are amazing, if you listen to none of these other suggestions take note of this one. Blue Scholars - Sagaba
  • Common Market - Same producer/DJ as Blue Scholars but different MC.
  • Dan The Automator - Anything he produces has a Jazz twist on it.
  • DOOM - Under the MF Doom, King Geedorah, Viktor Vaughn, Dangerdoom or Madvillain aliases, all is good. The King Geedorah album has a Jazz sample feel. Madvillain - Accordian
  • Deltron 3030 - The trio that inspired Damon Albarn to create the Gorillaz. It basically inspired the first Gorillaz album which is primarily Dub based but you might still enjoy it. Deltron 3030 - Madness
  • Dr Octagon - Kinda trip-hop and crazy but iconic. Dr Octagon - Blue Flowers
  • Felt - Slug and Murs, kinda more modern Gangstarr. Felt - 20 Answers
  • Gangstarr - DJ Premier and Guru combined to make the most amazing Jazz-Hop music ever made. Gangstarr - Moment of Truth
  • Illogic - Artist that uses very melodic loops. Illogic - Hate In A Puddle
  • Nujabes - Japanese producer who sadly died recently, his music is amazing. Nujabes ft. Cise Starr & Akin - Feather
  • RJD2 - Producer; first 3 or so albums are INCREDIBLE, Third Hand onwards, not so much. RJD2 - Ghostwriter

Not all the artists above are strict Jazz Hip-Hop, Jazzmatazz style, but they are all Jazz inspired and are great artist/groups in their own rights.

EDIT: I will update this post with YouTube links tomorrow.
EDIT EDIT: Done.

basically like the above though and more inspired by it rather than using it in every single track , produced or has worked with most the above too.

Look out for Buckshot Le Fonque - Branford Marsalis. It was around the Jazzmatazz era. Also look for Mo Betta Blues, and Brand New Heavies - Heavy Rhyme Experience, and Digable Planets.

Jazzmatazz volumes 1 and 2 are fantastic so get yourself volume 2. I didn't like volume 3 too much and have never heard volume 4 so i think i may check it out.

Just looked and can see loads of Jazzmatazz on grooveshark.com (kind of like spotify) that you can listen too but for some reason the albums are not separate.
