Hi guys,

I'm after some recommendations of hotels in Rome. £100 - £120 per night I guess. We're there for 3 nights in March. We were looking at Hotel Artemide, but having only just returned from the Maldives a few weeks ago it was more than we wanted to pay. it did sound nice and central to most of the touristy stuff however!

Thank you,

Mal

Stayed here a couple months ago, its 5 mins from the metro station, its walking distance to the Spanish Steps. Hell, you can walk to the Pantheon in 30mins if you know where you are going.

gimme a min I'll dig out some pics.

The room is a decent size and modern, the shower was awesome, walk in one, slates, I think some rooms even have a hot tub Jacuzzi. The bed was really comfy. The windows has electric shutters that will make the room completely dark (nice touch to block out street lamp).

The place was recommended by my sister, she went the year before and basically did the research for me lol Her conclusion after looking through dozens and dozens of hotels online and Trip advisor was that most hotels are decorated decorated like its still Victorian era and this was the most modern/central/value for money. #5 out of 1,275 of hotels in Rome?!?

It's not much help but we stayed at Hotel Artemide last summer and it was great, would highly recommend it. :)

Just got back 2 days ago and got engaged there too! Was the best city ive been to by a mile!

We stayed in 2 hotels. The first one was Hotel turner next to porta pia, Looks very posh and was really nice.

The second was called hotel emona aquaeductus and felt a lot more traditional but it was also lovely. Both pretty central and only a 5-10 min bus ride to the termini station or a 25-35 min walk depending on if you stop and look at all the random things you will discover!

Oh and i reccomend using busses to get around, cheap and very frequent to anywhere, and tbh you can get away with getting on and off without paying, the drivers dont seem to care at all!

Ive been to some nice places but i truly didnt want to come back. If you want a nice romantic and fun day i reccomend going to the zoo in rome which only cost 12.50 each and is brilliant and from there walking through villa borghese park towards the spanish steps. Theres a platform that overlooks rome there and thats where i proposed. Was beautiful! Hope you have a nice time!

We stayed at the Villa Morgagni, not bang on central but as a little bit further north it was quieter at night. Also right next to a termini station so only minutes from everywhere else.

Small hotel but lovely place to stay and would recommend it.

The most amazing city, loved every minute of it. St Peters is awesome - the view from the top is breath taking, we went to the castle (can't remember the name of it, just a walk striaght down the road from St Peters, and watched the sun go down over St P's

Great place!

Going end of April and will be doing the same. I went in 2008 with friends so not totally new to the city. Love the place.

You guys have me seriously re-thinking my hotel choice though. aaggghh but all hotels mentioned are going to cost me £600+ for our stay. I need to get the ring yet.

Anyone know of somewhere nice but a tad cheaper?

Our second hotel only cost 70 or 80 per night and we got that by using i think last minute .com secret hotel deal! Less than a week before going too!

The view is breath taking alright :) We lucked out on the day with some great weather for a late November!

Very ingenious way of getting up there too, you basically walk between the walls in the dome itself!

We were there August Bank Holiday, and it was scorching! Queued for two and a half hours to get in to the Vatican - which is free entry on the last Sunday of the month!

We paid 35 euros each, no queues to get in, plus a guided tour. It was a Tuesday.

As my friends and colleagues will concur, I'm a tight wad, if I could save 70 euros by waiting in the baking heat I would.....much to the bewilderment of my wife.... :D

It's only about 15-20 euro's each without tour if I remember.

I will be there on the 24th of April which is last Sunday of the month... so might just go for free.

Think I will look at slightly better hotels also. See if I can find somewhere I'm happy with.
