Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that the main Post office sorting depot in my town only have 1st and 2nd class stamps to send a letter, they can't/won't do recorded post / overseas mail!

Is this not absolutely stupid? They are the post office for petes sake I tried to send a letter to Canada only to be refused to be told I have to go to one of the smaller outlets in town.

Is this the same for every sorting depot? Surely this is a massive oversight?!?!?!

I dont see why they cannot sent an overseas letter for you unless the whole "airmail" is seperate from the actual post office.

The post office is owned by Royal Mail but a separate company then the sorting offices.

So the sorting office is not a post office.

I didnt even know it was possible to send anything direct from a sorting depot I've only every used them when I needed to pick up a missed parcel.
It does make sence though they are there to deal with sent mail and leave the actual post offices to deal with sending just to make things simpler.

No. You said it yourself; they are a Sorting Office, not a Post Office.

Yes. And no, it isn't.

If they offered the same services as the Post Office we'd have you complaining that you had to queue to collect your mail as there was a load of people in there trying to send post out.

The sorting offices function isnt to accept mail from individuals...

Next time Im looking to purchase something instead of going to the tills, Ill pay one of the assistants/helpers/shelf stackers.

ps3ud0

I am quite supprised it is possible for you to even buy stamps there. I work for RM and I have never come across a delivery office where it is possible to do this.

The one in Penzance had a vending machine and a letter box in the wall outside.

This might be the same sort of thing?

Our local delivery/sorting office has huge signs up saying "We do NOT sell stamps" etc. guess they must get fed up with people taking the wee =P

In our delivery office potential stamp buyers are sent off with a flea in their ear.

Want stamps? Go queue in your local Post Office for half an hour with the old people, crying babies and people getting a dozen parcels individually weighed. :D

my local post officer refuased to take one of those virgin media self postage paid boxes...

was trying to send a setop box back to them so i had to go all the way to the post office in town...

dont see how it bloody matters postage was paid by virgin media FFS!
