Hi, I tried searching but couldn't find any decent threads.

I want to get my self a sat nav, However I know with the low price range there probably isn't much options but any suggestions would be nice :)?

TomTom XL UK is good! Might be a bit out of the price range, but the IQ routes option is really handy for re routing in case of congestion. I have to say though that the mapping is out of date - even on a brand new unit, not sure if anyone else has noticed this?

What phone do you have? If you have a reasonably modern phone you could get a satnav solution that is equally as good/better for FAR less

I'm sure I saw one of these for £130 in the Orange supermarket a few weeks back although I'm not 100% sure. Do you have to pay for the IQ route option?

I have an iPhone 3GS I wasn't too keen on getting the app, are they good then?

TomTom for iphone is <£50, and works more than fine, that or navigon, i used them all the time. maybe there is a trial?

i got my navigon 4310max for £134 with free 2 years map updates worth £80 and 1 years speedcam updates worth £25, so good value.
got it from halfords
out of the 4 satnavs i have owned its the best i have used

Was going to suggest a smart phone, i can't see the point in having a seperate device. Even with basic Google maps you can see pretty clearly where you are, and if you want you can get a ghey satnav app.

Plus you get the bonus of an awesome phone, rather than a dumb box that only serves one function. I have an htc desire, and on the rate occasion I scratch my head, it is very handy.

But that sad, I'm quite oldskool like that, and plan my jouney before i set off, and I generally know where I need to be.

Problem is I can't exactly lend out my iPhone if any friends or family need to borrow it :).

Are Navigon's good then?

Fair enough, but for me personally it would arouse suspicion.. I would not feel comfortable lending my car to anyone who doesn't have the sense to
A) not know where they are going and
B) not have the sense to look at a map/Google it/or even bring their own satnav

Alarm bells are ringing!

He's talking about lending his family his satnav, which he cannot do if it's on his iPhone..... what are you on about?

I'm obviously going senile lol! That said, do they not possess basic navigational skills? Maybe they have some kind of genetic condition. Who am I to judge. My most humble apologies.

Stop being stupid now, loads of people use sat nav because it's just easier and more efficient. If you're travelling somewhere you've never been before, especially if it's hours from home, having satnav to re-route around traffic and take you straight to the door with no messing around, its just the digital equivelant of a map.

Do you have electric windows? Do you not possess the necessary motor functions required to wind windows up and down? Do you dig out an encyclopedia instead of googling things?
