Low profile soundcard

Looking to build a media streaming PC with a low-profile case I have lying around. I'd like to spec a decent soundcard (Creative X-Fi or similar) but I can't see any mention of low-pro backplates on the OcUK website.

Anyone know if such a thing exists?

Don't know about the low profile Creative cards, although I'd avoid the overpriced Xtreme Audio. The low profile Xonar's do come with low profile brackets.

If its not mentioned then the Xonar DS comes with a low profile bracket, I replaced a xfi xtreme music with it and the xonar has a more natural, clean sound in music.

I gave up trying to find one and purchased the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series .. but really wanted the forte at the time but could not source one from anywhere at that time.

The Asus Xonar DX comes with a low profile bracket as well.

The Forte gets my vote too. They haven't been the easiest to get hold of for a while though - Auzentech keep saying there are more on the way soon but they're yet to materialise.

The Forte sounds good actually having read the blurb on their website, I'm not going to finish this build for a month or two so hopefully some will have appeared by then.

How much are we talking about roughly?

For the forte £95-£120 depends on demand for them at the time I guess.. Seen them go for them prices in the past..

In April 2009 I paid £120 for mine. I got it from another e-tailer but OcUK had it for a similar price too.

Bugger, just realised that the Forte is PCI-E... my case only has one 1xPCI and 1xPCI-E, and the GPU is sitting in the PCI-E already.

Looks like the Xonar is the one for the job then, shame as the Forte looks awesome
