Black ops locked at 90FPS

I've seen other people get much higher though - after a quick google, others have had this issue over several games. Which makes it sound like a driver/windows issue rather than the game?

Any thoughts?

Is your monitor refresh rate 100Hz? If so switch off vsync .

Go into settings and enable the console.

Open the console and type:

/com_maxfps xxx

with xxx being the required maximum fps.

EDIT: FWIW, all CoD PC games seem to come with about 90fps as default.

Yep its capped at 60fps with vsync on and 90 off, the config file can changed for higher but never done it myself

And tbh, with how poorly made the game is, it feels as if it's capped at 20 fps.

^^ since latest patch I can play 2 maps absolutely fine... on the 3rd map dead on the dot it goes back to choppy 20fps feel in any action. Its not a memory leak tho.

Kinda given up on it tbh, actually went back to cod 4 for a blast, been ages since i played it, kinda forgot how good it actually is.

Yeah I've been put off even buying it due to a lot of people saying it's MW2 version 2. Now with all these other problems I'm seeing, well it's not making me want to rush out and buy it. MW2 is a huge disappointment for me and the only Call of Duty game I've regretted buying. I've had it since near it's release and I've had about 2 hours play time with it. Since I've bought the rest of them then I might as well as pick Black Ops up at one point but I hope by then it's at least working how it should.

Call of Duty 4 is where I spend most of my time with S&D. Much better than MW2 IMO. Dedicated servers

black ops plays smooth and really well for me to be honest guys. i love it. there are dedis on black ops by the way.

Black ops plays fine for me since I went SB, it was terrible on my C2D machine though*. It is even better on my 6950 - it sits at 90FPS all of the time.

*I'm told there was a pretty major update between me playing on each machine that fixed a lot of issues.

I know there are dedicated servers on Black Ops. It's just that people say it's MW2 Version 2 that put me off

. I'll buy it soon and I hope I actually play it more online than I have MW2. lol I've spent more time on MW2 single player than I have online

Yeah I tried my friends copy on my E2180 @ 3.2Ghz and it was choppy. This made me realise that I'd buy it after I upgraded. It should be good now though if you say it's all fine for you

blops didn't work properly on my x2 555 and gtx 460 so I went x4 955 and hd 6950 and that has made the game playable (either that or they fixed the damn game). Anyway, no I didn't just upgrade for blops, I am also playing ffxiv which is a resource hog (but I guess that's the price to pay for next gen mmo's). Also I didn't really enjoy blops at first but after 90 hours play time I am warming up to it

I must admit i enjoy Black Ops, plays fine for me with no issues. There are lots of little tweaks that you can put into your Black Ops config to make the game play better, not only with connection to the desired dedicated server, but also improve your hit registration.

All you do is open up the consol and put these commands in. They also work on COD4. It will help the smooth running of the game. Enjoy.

/snaps 30
/cl_maxpackets 100
/cg_drawfps 1
/sv_maxrate 25000
/pb_sleep 500 then /pb_writecfg (COD4 only)
/cg_drawlagometer 1 (COD4 only)

Like J.D i used to play S&D in COD4 (PAM and PRO MOD) In Black Ops my preferred game style is Domination LOL i dont think Black Ops was created with S&D in mind, its OK but IMO not as polished as COD4 with regards to S&D.

I never played MW2 so cant really comment, but i did play COD World & War, which was created by Treyarh. So for me this game for me is a cross between WaW and COD4 which is a good thing really (unless you have Dual Core)

Incidentally my FPS is capped at 125. Screen Res 1920x1080, my FPS doesnt normally drop below 90, normally holds 125 with no issues.

Have you enabled multi-core processing in the settings.ini?

Its off by default for some reason....
