Also let me get this right macca, with that Parrot thing, she gets in the car, it picks up her phone and thats it job done?

As long as the bluetooth set to pick it up everytime yes, the nice thing about my DHD, now I don't know if this is down to the Parrot or the phone is when I'm listening to music over bluetooth when I get out it only pauses and then if I get back in it reconnects and starts again where I left off same with the navigation.

With the S80 the Parrot is plumbed into the amp not the headunit so you don't even need the headunit on.

The only quarm I have is when streaming through bluetooth the phone disables the EQ of which I'd like some control, also I've have to re rip my tunes as the quality of the standard rip is terrible in a car with a decent system.

All you have is the control jobber which is now wireless so you can put it anywhere you like if you want to hide it

justcarkits.co.uk should be able to come to you he fitted mine in Leatherhead

I disagree entirely

This comes down to the individual. Speaking as a father we all want to give our kids the best in life. I don't have the money to do it (driving a 5k car myself) but can entirely see where mark is coming from.

I can't really see what there is to disagree with, I was simply stating my view point based upon how I was at 18 and how I can now look back and see how if things were put on a plate for me I wouldn't have appreciated them as much.

I'm not questioning why someone would want to buy their son or daughter a nice car but simply stating that for me it would probably not have been appreciated as it should have been.

I see both your points, if I was in Marks position to buy my daughter a decent car when she's old enough I would.

That said, like Mr LOL, I can't afford (sub £700 car here!!) - I see where Mr LOL is coming from, and tbh yes you do appreciate the value of things more when they are not offered on a plate as such.

My old mad drummed this into me well, trouble is, he still applys that theory as much now that I'm 40! He could (and given the numerous family PC fixing jobs I do for him) should (imo) have given me his old e39 £700 car but felt that I "should pay for it to appreciate it"

Bloody parents eh? :p:D

BMW dealer has generously declined to fit a Parrot jobby in for her, thats the last money they will be seeing, car can get serviced at another dealer now,no more money for youuuu hoooo.

Anyway she can take it to a place in Bromley that do Parrot installs.

Weird.

At the end of the day it's just a garage that happens to be an official BMW one. I see other brands of cars getting work done at official brand garages all the time so for them it's just work. Odd for them to turn down work which surely won't take them very long and they can charge a fair bit for labour.

Especially considering it's probably obvious you're not trying to cheap out on anything and have just spent £22k with them!

I suppose they would rather i spent 100s on the BMW retro fit like what Fox was on about.

Anyway no matter she can take it to the car hifi place in Bromley they say they will do it for her.

It's not odd at all, I am pretty sure the franchise agreement states they can only fit approved parts and accessories, of which the Parrot kit is not.

They are not an aftermarket ICE installer, they are a main dealer sales and service centre.

It's entirely appropriate that an aftermarket ICE installer would install a Parrot instead, it's more the area they specialise in and they've got far more experience in doing so.

I'm a bit puzzled by this, my brother in law is in a different f10 at the moment (528i) as his new 525d is at a BMW dealers having a few dings sorted (that were present on delivery) and I'm sure he said something about having a Parrot phone thing fitted as he's had issues with his new car & old phone....

I'll ask when i see him, its possible a different 3rd party phone specialist is doing that work whilst the car is at the dealers....

Im not going to name and shame them, but this is a below par BMW dealer, they even tried to charge me for the stupid "advanced prep" whatever that is, till i had a bit of a fit on the phone.

I had already said no to the paint shield **** but somehow it had worked its way onto the prep sheet.

Anyway i dont care it just wont be going back there for any service or warranty work.

Same thing happened to my dad when he got his new Audi TT. The dealer wanted £500 to apply it. Even though he said he didn't want it, it mysteriously appeared on the order conformation.

Funny thing is you can buy the Autoglym "lifeshine" kits off of ebay for £30 and it was exactly the same product he was offered, he just had to apply it on the weekend he got his car.

His car has BMW Bluetooth as standard, why would you ever put a Parrot into an F10 when the standard fit system integrats perfectly with the cars iDrive system!
