Hello all,

What would you guys go for if these were priced similarily??

I am looking at an i7 950 s1336 or a i2500, now I can get a i7 950 setup with a Asus P6X58D Premium Motherboard and G.Skill Trident 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit for similar money to what a i5 2500k
with memory setup would cost (well about £40 more).

So in light of the currect sandybridge mb issues what would you guys go for over the 2?? i was swaying for the SB setup as it is obviously the newest on the market

I will be using mainly for gaming and other basic computer use!

I will be pairing either up with the current 480gtx deal that OCuk are running and most prob an Antec 650W PSU, im assuming neither of these should cause me any issues??

Thanks guys and look forward to your response ;)

I would go for SB and try using only Sata3 ports, since i think those aren't affected by the chipset problems.

Thanks for the input guys, I was hoping you came back with SB.

Guess that is the route I shall take. Good Times.

Also would the Antec 650W PSU be ok to power the i5 2500k with a GTX480??

If your encoding-transcoding then defo i7 950 if your only gaming and browsing the internet do you really need sandybridge platform thats what you got to ask yourself. But if i was upgrading now i would go I7 2600K-2500K i'm currently useing i7 920 @ 4.2ghz its more than enuf for what i use it for encoding etc... myself.

SB and then replace the board when board become availiable. :)

+1

Most of the decent boards have an extra 2 marvell 6Gb/s ports as well, totalling in 4 for you to use should you need them.

I've got my ssd on one of the marvell ports and my storage and optical drive on the intel ports. No problems here. Just be sure to get it replaced when the rma program is in place as I believe it'll be at no cost to the customer?

Thanks guys def sb for me, now just to decide if it is worth me spending 50 squids more on the gtx480 over the gtx470 current deals, too many awesome deals going around!!!
