Hi,

I'm looking for a camera to attach to either the roof of my car or to the dashboard. The quality doesn't need to be all that amazing. It would either record to built in memory or some form of external media.

Could run off the 12v Cig lighter or batteries.... pretty open.

Anyone ever came across something like this or can think of something that would work?

I was thinking of taking the laptop in the passenger seat and hooking up a webcam, but there must be a better product or idea out there.

What you using it for just out of interest?

He's probably miffed that cyclists are doing it to catch out drivers so will be using it to catch out dangerous cyclists.

Lucky all bicycles have a unique identifying code attached to the front and back with which he can follow up violations.

Oh wait.

I could do with the same sort of thing, though to be mounted on a bike helmet, for a uni project, I want to flim my ride in and then do one of those fast forward videos.

It's nothing to do with cyclists lol... there's literally none of them around where I live. I was reading through the bike thread and that did remind me that I wanted one of these cameras.

Any old compact digicam with a video mode will do this. Just blu-tak a mini tripod to the dash and you're sorted.

Go Pro HD or ContourHD

The video from the Go Pro is a little better than the Contour but boy is it the ugliest thing ever and if you mount it on your helmet (cyclists et al) you look like a knob.
