Banned from drinking red bull at work

Where do you work?

It's certainly very odd when you think that the majority of work places provide free tea and coffee and some will have soft drinks which also contain caffeine.

I could see how it might look a little unprofessional to walk into some kind of high powered meeting with a Red Bull, when everyone else is on a coffee or such. I guess it looks a little crass and like you are so worn out that you need to be drinking it.

he's not drinking it in customer meetings.

He's drinking it off site on his work break.

That's just plain silly, we have an attended coffee stand in work that sells shots that put all those energy drinks to shame, I've often been pottering about doing my job buzzing off my nut quite legally thanks to someone in management being fed up of the cheap 25p dishwater from the vending machines.

I'm sure for it to work they have to put a blanket ban on eating or drinking in the workplace, surely they can't just pick and choose?

thats a point about espresso shots. Costa and the like sell some drinks that would given the most hardened caffeine freak a wake up :p

surely they wouldn't sack anyone for drinking red bull

depends how much of a **** the boss is.

When i was at uni i worked part time over the summer. My boss tried to pay me less than minimum wage to which i promptly pointed out he couldnt do. He reluctantly agreed to pay me what i was entitled to, then promptly set about finding somebody under 18 that he didnt have to pay a minimum wage to.

Then one day, despite the fact i only worked part time as a skivvy, i was deemed responsible for not checking the freezer was closed at closing time and fired instantly. Furthermore, he tried to withhold my wages owed claiming i needed to pay him for the lost stock.

Whole thing was a mickey take. Couple of sternly worded letters later warning of employment tribunals and i got my wage back.

Some bosses think because they run a small business they can get away with anything.

Exactly, start handing out shots, pro plus et al, the decision will soon be reversed when the workforce breaks down into fits of giggles or get couchlock.

1) Keep drinking it.
2) Get sacked.
3) Big, fat tribunal payout for unfair dismissal.

Might as well y'know.

You don't have to pay costs for those things and the employer does whether they win OR lose.

If its a messy enough case it can be more cost effective for the employer to settle out of court even if you're making it up as you go along simply because it costs them less.

You know it makes sense.

At my last place of work they practically promoted the stuff since the half the vending machine was filled with Red Devil. My supervisor drunk like 5 cans of the stuff a day. His blood must have been pure glucose.
