A few from Marwell Zoo

I went to Marwell Zoo near Winchester for a TP meet on Sunday. I have been meaning to go for months so thought it would be the perfect opportunity. Read a couple of guides on what/what not to do, but in the end, I didn't really have time getting to learn their behaviour, catching them at feeding times etc. Here are a few I've processed (not much to be done though - corrected exposure, contrast, saturation, sharpness and crop in Gimp). Any comments or criticisms, please let me know; I'll take them on board whilst processing the others and for next time. It's a good place for a meet actually.

I was using my D90 + Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 but a very generous chap on TP entrusted me with his Nikkor 70-200 F/2.8 VR + 1.4x teleconverter for part of the day. I felt rather inadequate after handing it back, although I get the feeling it gets a bit soft at the long end (or just needs faster shutter speed).

What do you guys think of this quote on the Marwell Flickr page? I don't really mind as it's a bonus if it happens, but then I think they are trying to get free photos from amateurs when otherwise a pro would have to be employed.

The official group for photos from Marwell Wildlife Park, Hampshire. By submitting your photos to this group you are giving permission for them to be shown on our website. All submissions will be screened and those that we approve will appear at www.marwell.org.uk/photos as well as in the group. Thank you for your images.

Some excellent shots mate. Love the diving penguin, my favourite. :)

They're not trying to get free photos. It's an excellent opportunity IMO. It still attributes you and it's not like they're using your photos in their marketing or printed material or whatever, they'll only be featured on marwell.org.uk/photos/ on what looks to be an official flickr slideshow plugin.

There is also a Marwell Photographic club: http://www.marwellphotogroup.org.uk/

Nice, friendly little club. Meets around once a fortnight. KittyKat and I have been members for two years. We didn't renew this year only because it is an inconvenient distance from our home.

Great shots! I am waiting for a free weekend to do the same as the last time I went to marwell I only had my phone and an old point and shoot!

Loving the diving penguin too!

Ah dagnamit, wish I knew about this TP meet, I would have loved to have gone to marwell again, haven't been for a year.

Cracking photos though, love the moody zebra one

Uploaded a few more, although not as good as the first lot imo, except for this one:

I think the big cats have been my favourite; really like the Servals; didn't get that good a picture of them though.
