Basically I have been looking myself and getting confussed :o (not the shapest knife in the draw)

Was looking at the SB set ups but theres the worry of the problems there having with the SATA and i dont want to run the risk (i know warranty not affected but still)

So thats why i want AMD now i have not built a system in 13yrs (long time) so any addvice would be help full thanks

You don't have to get SB to get Intel the I5 760 is a great gaming CPU also i wouldn't worry to much about the SB problems you will not lose out if anything goes wrong a INtel have already stated its a problem with there chipset.

If you are going down the AMD route a decent quad (955 or 965) are good for gaming.

The main thing to remember about gaming is at the moment if you have a decent quad you will nothing will be held back by CPU power, the main consideration is the GPU. At the moment OCuk have some great deals on the 470 and 480, i would personally but a 470 or 2.

If spending that much right now, I would still go Intel. i5 760 CPU. That's coming from someone who has only ever had Intel CPUs in an Xbox and a couple of laptops.

If you can wait, hang on for Intel to fix the SB RAID problem or see what AM3+ and Bulldozer brings to the table.

Ok cool it was just guidlines i was looking for will be spending about £200 a month to get parts so i'll hold out on MoBo and CPU for now just as long as i can crossfire/SLI what ever GPU i get then i will be happy been looking at the ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express lines (not a big Nvida fan)

The best value at this price point is still SB, IMO.

I'd go SB and organise the RMA as and when replacements are announced.

Well if thats the case with it being just 5% then cool

Right any ideas on a gaming Spec best i can get for £1000 ish?

Will be using my own win7 and would prefer ATI card/s or at least the pos to crossfire them

£1000 is loads of money for a gaming rig.
a rough spec would be -
i5 2500k £190
p67 sandy bridge mobo (something like asus pro) £150
4gb ram (2 dimm) £40
ati 6950 £210

then youve got about £400 for case PSU, HDD, etc.

so this bundle for OcUk

Radon Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle - Asus= £410

would that be a good solid start point then?

What about the HDD/SSD debate worth getting 1 of each or just HDD?
