Does anyone use a Plasma (42" +) as a monitor for their PC?

Reason I ask is I've just moved into my new pad and I'm in the market for a new TV. Normally I would go straight out and get a Plasma however I really would liek to connect my PC to my TV and use it as a HTPC. I'd also like to play PC games on it (MMO's, FPS and RTS) but with that in mind, I'm concerend that I should proabably opt to go for an LCD rather than a plasma.

So was womndering of there are any people here who PC Game on their Plasma's and if they have any issue with gaming on them?

Not at all. Same as putting my XBox or PS3 through it.

I did however stop using it quite quickly as the biggest problem I had was finding a comfortable position to play games, what was primarily my TV, with a mouse and keyboard...

Ended up just buying a ASUS Revo as an HTPC. Love it.

This

+ you get a much lesser sound experience unless
a) you have a expensive sound card that does the conversion to Dolby 5.1 at least
b) you have a second sound system to plug into the pc
c) you use headphones

I used to game with a pad for a while but got bored of it pretty quickly

PC Outputing HDMI via my ATI Graphics Card into my Sony STR-DG-820 Dolby Tru Digital Amp. ;) Go that covered.

I use my HTPC to game on my plasma.. I only use it for certain games though that I can play with a controller! Things like racing games and PES. Anything like FPS, RPGs and strategy games I play on my main pc.

have the burn in issues with plasmas been fixed yet ? i know you never used to be able to use plasmas as constant images such as the speedometer or rear mirror would be permanently burned into the display.

No image burn reported here ... that said if I game for a few hours constant and switch off, upon restarting there would be slight image retention that would be barely visible until a TV program / film / any moving picture removed it.

never had screen burn or any image retention on pioneer kuro.

think nowadays most plasma do not suffer from screen burn, they all include software pre-installed that avoids this. screen burn was an issue back in the early days of plasma afaik

Most screens will get a bit if image retention that goes away after a minute or two on another image.

Not a serious issue though. Screen burn never happens now.

Nooooooooo, ours at work suffer badly. They all have programs built in and you run them for about 20 mins to clean it, but for a PC I wouldn't go there. If you only used it while gaming, but certainly not for desktop use.

theres to much colour depth in plasma for games makes them look funny unless they are trying to be realistic but most MMOs can be cartoon based(wow) so i would advise against it unless you want realism. however on a plus there Hz helps out a lot for action scenes so FPS +, and movies steaming is great.

My htpc runs windows 7 so is good for web browsing and gaming, going into a panny 46 plasma. Never had any problems with screen burn in what so ever.

My pc is in the lounge, and I have a permanent HDMI connection to my plasma.

Using wireless Xbox controllers, I have happily played Batman AA, Blur, Just Cause 2 and Dead Rising 2 from my sofa.
