I'm thinking of taking advangate of the current amazing deals but which card for the following setup?

I'm going to be getting a 27" 1080P monitor and I mostly play the graphics intensive FPS titles especially online, i'd like everything to run at max settings with a bit of AA and AF, i'm not really interested in overclocking and dont want to discuss why, i'd like the best out of the box card and i'd like to save money if possible but dont really want to spend more than £230

Asus GTX480
MSI GTX470
Gigabyte 560GTX SOC

There is no chance of SLI and I have a 750W seasonic PSU with a Phenom 2 965 at the standard 3.4GHZ with 4GB of RAM

Thanks

Even if you're not interested in overclocking, I'd still go for the 560 (which you probably could SLI on a 750W PSU?).

My board doesnt support SLI

I suppose I should list my concerns with all three

Asus GTX480

Too hot and noisy and old tech

MSI GTX470

Again old tech

Gigabyte 560GTX SOC

Not enough RAM

470 and overclock to 480 performance and still have a cool running card with minimal fan noise, or 480 for ultimate performance but will run hotter and noisier, how bad is depending on how good your case cooling is. 480 would be my choice, at under £200 it's crazy value.

The HD6950 is a better card than the GTX480 for virtually the same money.

+1 - It also addresses all of your concerns with the other cards.

Also, buying another card because a better version of the 6950 might come out in a few weeks is completely backwards.

I'm concerned about the noise of the 480 because I had to buy an aftermarket cooler for the processor because the OEM cooler drove me insane

I dont know what it is about the 6950 but I just dont fancy one, I think its because i'm happy with nvidia cards, it doesnt mean i'm biased as i'm not but I think i'm just going to wait and see what non-reference 5 series make an appearence in the near future and maybe save a little more cash and up my budget

Sounds like the GTX580 is made for you TBH.

Too expensive for 1080P

Either a 560GTX with a nice clock speed and more than 1GB of RAM or a non-reference 570 and i'd really like a Gigabyte card with a blue PCB

I'm not in a rush, the monitor i'm interested in isnt out until March and neither is Crysis 2

I can't see the point in waiting for non-reference cards. The reference cooler is perfectly adequate - Heaven sees max temps of around 80c, and even then the cooler is barely audible in my old case with just 1 silent fan - I'm sure you could keep temps even lower with a half decent case and cooling. Waiting for non-reference cards will likely mean you'll miss the boat on the shader unlock.

Edit: Oh, I've just seen you were talking about non-reference NV cards - nevermind.

Beyond that, I think the only real choice for the money is the 480. Yes its loud (irony is, the reference cooler seems pretty bad on this card), but as you say the 560 is lacking in V-Ram.
