This is what I've got so far;

Capture-5.jpg

This is for my Dad, his work only uses Office so nothing too demanding. Won't ever be used for games. Will be used for HD playback and video encoding. Don't need OS or peripherals. He says he has a GPU but if not a 5450 will be more than enough I would imagine. Spec can be overkill because it will probably remain unchanged for the next 5 years minimum.

There is also a chance I may steal this build and give him my Phenom II x4 build :D

You can get SB quite easily in that budget, this build uses built in gfx so no need for additional card, swapped case to a similar one that was actually instock, and PSU was overpowered, also as its just office work Im guessing he wont be OCing so ditched the aftermarket cooler and didnt bother with the K variant CPU

Intel Core i5-2400 3.10GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £154.99
Asus P8H67-M Intel H67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Micro-ATX Motherboard - (Sandybridge) £87.98
Lian Li PC-A05NB Aluminium Mini-Tower Case - Black £72.98
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply £53.10
GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (GVP34GB1600C9DC) £39.98
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM 1yr Warranty (ST31000518AS) £37.99
Samsung SH-S223L/RSMN 22x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Beige/Black/Silver) - Retail £15.98
Total : £463.02

Thanks. I did price up some SB builds but wasn't sure as there is a chance they maybe recalled.

Asus provide 3 year RMA with first year being advance replacement, as in theyll send you out new board before you return your old, so if it is necessary to do its not a problem, just swap over boards

I'll put a couple of quotes together including a SB build and let him decide.

Might be worth listing the parts in your current Rig.
See if you can mix and match and give your dad the "left overs" :p

My set up is a Phenom II x4 965, Asus 890GX, Crucial 2x 2GB memory with an OCZ 650 mod PSU.

That's very similar to the build I did in the summer. I used a 2.76Ghz CPU, same mobo though.

I used low voltage 1.35v gskill eco RAM. I seem to remember at the time, that was the right RAM to use, rather than the 1.5v stuff.
