Been offered a pair at £120 part worn with lots of tread left.

For my Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

They seem cheap - are they any good ?

That is overpriced for part worns in the size which that car will take. Either find cheaper or buy new ones at £60/corner.

I wouldnt even expect to pay £120 for a pair of 19" 275 width tyres for my merc if they were part worns.

Thanks for your thoughts.

They are 205 50 R17

Still overpriced?

Way over in my experience, i bought some recently in a similar size for £20 each from the local part worn place in oxford. Even huge wide 19" tyres shouldnt be more than £50-60 part worn.

Hugely overpriced!

Hankook V12 EVO in your size is around £60-£70 each and its a superior tyre.

I think Toyo T1R's are about £55 in your size.

Try over £100 for both! :p

Your buying skills are weak!

Got priced up yesterday 4x Hankook V12 EVO in 205/45/17 for £280 fitted including VAT.

Use camskill for prices, then ring your local fitter and get them to match the price and throw in fitting for free, seems to work everytime for me, sometimes I even get cheaper. :)

Here is the V12 on Camskill, over £20 cheaper:-

Then do a bit of bartering and calling around, should get a further £5-£10 off. :)

The Falkens on camskill are £30 cheaper each than that website, did you just go and find the most expensive place you could? :p

Out of interest, who is trying to blag £120 for 2 part worn tyres in that size!? Thats totally out of scope with the industry.

Some local tyre fitter, i rang up to get a quote for some Falken 452's and they said they didnt stock them and tried to upsell me those instead.

Ha ha, it isnt my usual fitter - just some random one who wont be getting my business :D

Not suggesting you buy these, but just to give you an idea of used tyre values, first hit on google were these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2055017-PIREL...20981?pt=UK_Cars_Tyres_RL&hash=item2a0dd26e15

Very good premium tyre with "lots of tread" (in used terms 4mm looks like a lot visibly, i doubt those toyo's were much more)

Thats the kind of value used tyres have for future reference if thinking about buying them. You'd want more tread than those have, they just serve as a quick example :)

Don't forget some part worn brake pads as well.

:D

Wonder when you'd pipe up.

I didn't go hunting for part worn tyres, i was offered some and wanted to know people opinions.

You can relax now..

Thanks.

To be honest i will probably go brand new. I've never bought part worn before I felt a bit uneasy about it. Useful to know people opinions though.

Oh indeed. Either way you dont want to overpay. I'm sure the guy will eventually get that £120 for those toyo's off someone. Least it wont be you.

They are actually on the bay too, they have 7mm of tread left which will do someone a job im sure.
