Hi guys, posting this on befalf of a friend as i dont' have a console so dont have a clue.

He bought battlefield BC2 for the xbox360 last year and played it for a while but his xbox died so he gave a friend the hard drive out of it and bought a new one. now he's after playing the game again and is concerned that because he gave the hard drive away (assuming with all the relvant dara on it) that he might not be able to play the game again unless he goes out and buys a new copy of it. Hopefully this is not the case but im not sure how it works for the 360 as i have it on the pc and know that i am bound to the one account name so does anyone have any advice on this?

thanks in advance. :)

His online EA account is tied to his gamer tag. So if he logs in to his GT and goes online it will all be the same,,,,,same rank etc.

Thanks for that Zensuji. Just told him what you said and he said he's not sure what his details were, but i know EA do an online advisor for problems so if he gives them his code they should be able to retrieve his details id imagine?

He wont even have to do that. Just sign in to your gamer tag on xbox live then boot up the game. It will all be there. :)

ahh but he doesent have that gamertag anymore as it will be stored on his old xbox's hard drive and the gamertag he's using now is a new one with a new email adress and everything since getting a new xbox :(

Then he has shot him self in the foot really.

The gametag is like a Windows Live ID, you can sign in anywhere and your details will be the same.

He can recover his gamertag if he wishes.

BUT, if his one and only option is to keep his NEW gamertag, then I am afraid he will lose all his rank data ect ect. Again, like a Win live ID, sign up to a new one and you lose everything regardless of where you sign in.

In the respect of the game, you can install that game and save data onto 20 HDD's, sell them on ebay or burn them, what ever he does with it, he will still have the disk. Which is the only thing required to play a game that has been installed. There is no tie.

So, you install BC2 onto a HDD under X gamertag, gain a rank, sign out, sell HDD. New owner of HDD signs in using Y gamertag, loads BC2, it's like a brand new game, no ranks. Previous user has new xbox, signs in using Z gamertag, loads his old BC2 disc... Same situation and new user, no data.

Make sense?
