I will post this in the 6950 unlock thread.

Yes. Unless you are deaf or don't mind paying more money for slower cards.

Oh look, Coupe being a diva yet again. Your response isn't even a reaction to my post at all. You clearly don't understand how heat works with GPUs, yet it's wrong and "anti-nVidia" for me to point that out? You must be utterly deluded because "most people" are just going to see you whingeing and moaning when people don't agree with you.

The very fact that you've compared a GTX480 to an 8800GT shows this, as it seems you think they produce nearly the same amount of heat.

Seriously Kyle please don't insult my intelligence. I was merely pointing out that we've had hot running GPUs in the past, and it shouldn't put people off buying a video card. It's blatantly obvious an 8800GT won't push out as much heat into your case as a 480, but like I said providing you have good enough airflow it won't be a problem, again a fact that you don't seem to acknowledge.

You are the one that's deluded thinking the 6970 would be so much cooler than a 480. I take it you've seen the power consumption of your latest beloved AMD cards? the 6970 is not a million miles behind the 480 both in terms of power consumption and as a result heat, they're hardly what you'd call "efficient".

Yes. Unless you are deaf or don't mind paying more money for slower cards.

Coupe69 you really need to drop this green vs red team. It was you that posted the graph remember and now you're saying
It's blatantly obvious an 8800GT won't push out as much heat into your case as a 480

So why even post the graph in the first place if you already agree it isn't a fair comparison with the GTX 480?. If you can agree that quickly with Kylew on the point he raised then why are you saying things like:
LOL, what a surprise, Kylew and his sidekick Jigger, any excuse for a dig at a Nvidia product huh? It's a shame that most people nowadays can see straight through your BS and incessant NV bashing.

Can you please drop the attitude and discuss without resorting to this kind of behaviour on the forums as it's really not needed. You're taking it a little bit too serious which is shown by you lashing out at someone with a legitimate question regarding the graph you posted.

Also the post above now lol?. Calm down, it's a discussion about, a graphics card :D

It certainly doesn't look that way.

but like I said providing you have good enough airflow it won't be a problem, again a fact that you don't seem to acknowledge.
In your opinion, however it does to others, I'm not ignoring any "fact", a lot of people simply don't like the noise and heat a 480 kicks out. That shouldn't upset you and make you defend the fact that you have a 480.

You are the one that's deluded thinking the 6970 would be so much cooler than a 480.
I'm talking about a 6950.

http://www.geeks3d.com/20100405/infrared-pictures-of-the-geforce-gtx-480/

That completely illustrates my point about how, while the GPU temperature may be fairly similar, the cards are kicking out much more heat. Take it however you want, but a 6950/6970 isn't much hotter or power hungry than a 5870.

I take it you've seen the power consumption of your latest beloved AMD cards? the 6970 is not a million miles behind the 480 both in terms of power consumption and as a result heat, they're hardly what you'd call "efficient".
I think you're the only one in this thread with beloved hardware. I've stated many times I think 6900s are a joke compared to the 5800s, as are the GTX500s too. I also didn't say the 6950 was a million miles behind a 480 in power consumption...

I also didn't say the 6950 was efficient, however I'm fully aware that you don't actually read what I say, but rather add your own "green" interpretation of it.

LOL, seriously that's like the pot calling the kettle black, I take it his constant rude and patronising posts are allowed then?

the psu is a beast corsair 620 hx are sli certified for 2 gtx 480's so its not a problem. I just want raw power at 1080p main and still be able to use 2nd mon for ventrillo browsing etc

the hell it was, it wasnt certified for two 8800gtx's, although it was proven by corsair that they could manage it. the TX950 is the lowest output psu from corsair that is 480-sli certified. if you take a look on SLI-Zone, you'll see nothing under 900w is certified for 480gtx sli.

Firstly, I didn't say that, and secondly, if you think "rude and patronising" is me pointing out you've said something wrong, then go ahead, because you're just making yourself look like a fool in this thread. You've done this quite a few times now, you get all upset, don't actually respond to things directly, and dismiss everything as rubbish without actually having an adult conversation about it.

Oh, let me also point out:

LOL, what a surprise, Kylew and his sidekick Jigger, any excuse for a dig at a Nvidia product huh? It's a shame that most people nowadays can see straight through your BS and incessant NV bashing.

Like I said in one of my previous posts, if you have a half decent case with reasonable cooling there simply isn't a problem, a fact that you constantly choose to ignore.

If my posts are rude and patronising, what exactly do you call this attitude?

Don't you think it's funny that he acts like this, then rants about how I'm supposedly trolling?

He seemingly can't have an adult conversation without windmilling when some one expresses an opinion different to his own.

lots of misconceptions about heat, its a bit frustrating tbh.

how about people stick to making points instead of the personal attacks? did you have a point to make, Coup69?

I tell you what you carry on with your AMD love in, and I'll just put you on ignore, everyones a winner then?

How about re-reading my posts? Putting me on ignore isn't going to fix your own issues is it? It's pretty clear to anyone reading this thread what you're doing.

Really, so I'm the only one making personal attacks?

Putting me on ignore isn't going to fix your own issues is it?

Yeah righty oh

It's time a few people around here opened their eyes and saw Kylew for the manipulative troll that he is. You do realise he's got form for trolling? He's been banned several times from the forum.

Anyway that is all now, I have better things to be doing on my Friday night than arguing on here.

That was me that you quoted, not Kylew?.

I've not seen Kylew do this and if he does then I'd ask the same from him as I would with any member acting in the fashion you have been. I've seen you do it in more than this thread and very recently. I calmly asked for normal discussion to return and to drop this green vs red thing. You have every right to continue to act the way you wish but I can only ask politely.

<3 Nvidia <3 ATI Easy ;)

Can you please edit and correct your post Coupe69?. You have quoted me but used another members name. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18393009&postcount=48

I'll have to see if my friend will give me one of his GTX 480s so I can game on it for a night on Crysis and use it in other gaming situations to see if the fan noise is more intrusive than people are making out. It's been quiet when playing the odd game there but we've only played Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 which isn't exactly a taxing game :).

Really, so I'm the only one making personal attacks?
Yes you are, me talking about your "own issues" was in reference to what you're doing right now, you're making a show of yourself yet again.[/quote]

It's time a few people around here opened their eyes and saw Kylew for the manipulative troll that he is.
People are taking me as I've been in this thread, I've said nothing wrong, yet you jump on the first post I make with a "personal attack". I can rise above these personal attacks because they're just childish rants from a manchild.
You do realise he's got form for trolling? He's been banned several times from the forum.
I've got form for trolling? Are you typing incoherently because you're in such a rage right now? Yes, I've been "banned" (suspended) a few times, does that suddenly change what I've said in this thread?

Anyway that is all now, I have better things to be doing on my Friday night than arguing on here.
Yet here we are. Let's note that this isn't actually an argument. It's you having a tantrum.
