MSI GTX 580 "OC"... GGGRRRRRRR!!!!

Plus if you do it yourself and it doesn't work out then you will lose out on warranty.
No you don't lose out on warranty.

As MSI have been senting us the overclocked bios to flash are selfs and said if it don't work then RMA the card back to them ;)

hi guys,

sorry again for the screw up at the factory, wrong bios used

i'm in the process of getting the latest version of the OC BIOS sent over from HQ and I'll have it available for those of you who want to flash it yourselves, pretty easy process as i'm sure most of you already know.

i'll post it up once I have it hosted somewhere.

Obviously if there are any that don't like the OC settings after flashing they are fully covered under warranty.

Hi guys. I bought this card when they came available on OCUK and as I'm sure you are aware they aren't actually overclocked. I've tried flashing the BIOS but it just doesn't happen. I'm a complete novice at flashing GPU BIOS' but I've tried umpteen times and it just doesn't work. I'm pretty hacked of because it's not what I paid for. What are my options here?

Cheers.
You can Send your GTX 580 card to ScottiB (He works for MSI )

Hello,

I apologise but the delay is down to the complete lack of replacement stock. We cannot exchange a non-flashed card for a flashed card without flashed stock on hand and due to the factory error there are no flashed "OC" cards available.

I'd happily arrange to collect the card, flash and test it myself before returning it to you if that would be acceptable?

Please message me via trust.

First thing would be to test if it does work at the advertised clock speeds at the stock voltage, if not then get a replacement.

If it does work without any issues at these speeds just edit your current bios, save it with GPU-Z, edit with nibitor and flash with nvflash. ;)

It runs at the speeds in after burner with a slight increase voltage.
I'm going to have another bash at flashing it but for some reason its a bit complicated :P

Right just spoke to Svet on the MSI forums and he told me just to manually OC it to the advertised speeds. I did this and it kept crashing and the stock voltage so it tried 1038mV, Again it was crashing but it was slightly better. I went on to try 1050mV and again it was still crashing during runs of Kombustor and in FSX. Svet went on to say try it at 800 in the core and 2048 on the memory. With these settings it was stable only went I pushed to volts up to 1038mV. I told him this only for him to say "oh just keep it at those then". Well that's not what I paid £400 for...
