Ok, well, over the next few months I'm going to start buying the parts to finally put the pc together.

I'll be spending £1000 as a max budget, and as it will be my own money, I'll be spending a couple of months buying parts as and when they come on sale xD

As such, can you get a better build than this for £1000?

I know it's slightly under, but any money I can save is better, especially as I may well have to try and fit an OS in....

Couple of things...

1) Picked the Corsair PSU because of the warranty, and feel they have a better reputation than some of the other PSU manufacturers in a similar range. Oh, yeah, will 650W be enough for the 480? I think it should be, but just wanted to check, if not I'll just go for the 750W version just to be safe

2) I'll probably get a c400 when they come out instead, but for now, the c300 is in there so I can work out the budget etc....

3) Case is more of a personal preference.

4) Motherboard - I'm pretty sure I could save a bit here... Anyone feel like suggesting alternatives? - Want something with a fairly nice RMA xD

Chances are I'll be ordering the 480/Ram ASAP :)

ok, xD Gave in, and went for the 480 :D So that's £800 build with no graphics card limit xD

I wouldn't go with OCZ ram personally, they've had some rather mixed reviews recently and they are withdrawing from the RAM sector - how this will affect possible RMAs I don't know!

Yeah, that is the big choice, whether to go for a 850W with that Mobo, and maybe add a second 480 at a later date or maybe go for a cheaper PSU and Mobo, and the single 480...

The thing is, I think it might be easier to save the money on the PSU and Mobo, as realistically I doubt I'd go SLI, probably more likely just to upgrade to a newer GPU at the time the 480 starts to struggle...

This is going to be one I might have to think about xD

And yeah Cookeh, I've heard mixed reviews on OCZ. I might see if the Geil stuff comes offer again in the next few weeks. Might be a better choice?

it's only there value gold ram that has been having problems, their high end kits are still as good as anyones and they and ocuk have stated that rma's will not be a problem.

Would definitely be! Not sure if it will come on offer again after such a short time, but it's still quite cheap as far as they go

In all honesty, the only issue with the ram is I was playing with the idea of getting 2X4anyway, instead of 2x2 xD So yeah, it'll be an interesting thing to think about for a bit.

Then again could always add another 2x2 at a later date, is the platinum stuff reasonable still?

congrats on making a build that stulid didnt have to tear apart and help you remake. i think this deserves a mention as an informed build choice! *thumbs up*

Haha, yeah three months of looking at every build log that's posted on here and that's what you get :p

I gave a good enough reason above to avoid platinum.:D

Ha, only just saw the reason! xD Might go for the SpOps one then xD
