I know that its usually done at the the end of the year but could we perhaps have one done early?

The man in question is Gareth170

Reason? See this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18236540

I have had dealings with Gareth in the past and never knew. I am not sure that if I had the same disabilities that I could have have an outlook on life like he does, never mind game against the odds!

So who reckons the same?

Given that you've had dealings with him in the past and never realised about his condition, and on seeing his attitude in the thread that I've only just seen, I personally wouldn't be surprised if he just felt embarassed by the nomination.

I totally agree that his outlook is absolutely 100% admirable, but I don't necessarily think the MOH badge is something he'd want.

I hope it's not misunderstood, I've literally only been aware of him for like an hour and I already admire him, and I think it's a very nice sentiment.

Just my 2p :)

Maybe he would be embarassed but it would still be nice and an honour IMO. Those who seek fame and fortune, least deserve it.

+1

But i'm with PardonTheWait - we risk scaring the crap out of this laddie with all this love and affection! :p

When would nominations normally occur in a year where we get an option?

I think it's a bit degrading.
If I was disabled I wouldn't want special attention/to be given things like titles on forums, I'd want to be treated normally. I agree with what you've said in the OP, but would he really want it for those reasons? I wouldn't.

Not that I'm objecting to it, just some people don't like being given meaningless titles/things because of disabilities, they just want to be treated the same.

So true and tbh Garteh has never really spoken about the difficulities he faced until he post up the video playing games.

I always had an inclination that Gareth suffered some diasability from things he said etc. Hoever, I am not saying he deserves an award just for been disabled but for the fact that he strives and suceeds to lead a normal life doing quite often more than able bodied forums members do.

In fact he made me feel ashamed of how little I do.

I really don't get all this stuff about "embarassed" and "degrading". It's like you feel sorry for him rather than proud.

If Gareth gets a MOH award, it will be the best deserved ever in my opinion.

Not that I have any objection to giving Gareth170 the MOH status so early in the year, but I agree with Mohinder, this could make Gareth170 feel like hes getting special treatment which isn't the case but could easily be misconstrued that way. Nice gesture though Greebo I'm sure he appreciates it.

after reading that gaming thread, i was amazed to learn about Gareth being disabled and yet gaming to such a degree with just a mouse, he'd get my vote for what ever it's worth :)

Considering that all it took for TW Fox to get one was being opinionated then I see no reason why he shouldn't.

There lad who passed away's father sometimes posts here, I think if memory serves correct he has a MOH title as well.

But neither have asked for it, should we be rewarding them? Or anybody else that posts here who has a tough life. We're a large community there will be lots.
