Hey,

Is the above okay? I've seen a few benchmarks that seem to suggest its 150, then saw one on Bit-Tech that reckoned 280w draw, and looking at TechSpot they claim its 317w!!

So which is the closest, and am I okay to run it on my PSU with a Phenom II (stock atm).

Regards,

You're cutting it close to be honest. That's an old, weak PSU and you're limited to 312W on the 12V rail. According to Anand's bench a 920 system (overclocked a little) would draw 306 from the wall, which (assuming 88% efficiency as per Jonnyguru review of the PSU Anand uses) is 270W.

So at peak you'd be taking 270W from the PSU. But it's an old design and you possibly have had it for a while.

There's another thread here where someone has a 520W Corsair (and it's actually 520W unlike your Coolermaster which is nowhere near the 460W it's rated at), and he's further away from the limit than you are... and his is a Seasonic unit... and people are saying he should be concerned.

Yes, it'd be run in spec, but I wouldn't be comfortable with it. The review says it should be rated at 430W. But the review is being a bit generous, there is no modern PC that could draw 430W from that PSU, because the vast majority has to come from the 12V rail, which they label themselves at 312W. I don't know if they've overstated the 312W as well as the 460W. If they have it brings you even closer to the limit.
