Will the "Asus GeForce GTX 480" fit in an Antec 900?

Its still wearing the card out quicker tho, as more unnecessary power is being pumped through it cos of the 3d mode being stuck on in the 2 screen setup. Plus your psu will be having to work harder and a few more pennies added to your electric bill.

Yeah, the power use in an issue, but I honestly don't know/haven't thought about the impact of this. I'd imagined it would be negligible, but I may be wrong.

As for my PSU, I'm still quite a way off stressing my 750W Truepower to its limits, so I doubt I have to worry about that. Life of the gfx card is still likely to be measurable in years past the time it will actually have a place in playing modern games, I reckon.

Like I said to "metalmackey" on msn.... Nvidia should incorporate a 3d or 2d option in the multi screen mode so you can choose yourself.

IIRC on ATI cards the clocks only stayed at 3D clocks if the card was overclocked and running 2 monitors, not sure about Nvidia cards though.

Not sure on that 1 as I haven't tested with 2 monitors on mine. Maybe someone else can answer who has 2 monitors, or I could plug another one in tomorrow and find out for ya.

So do all new cards now, use 3d mode when using 2+ screen setup while not gaming, as my 3870 stays in 2d mode?

No, they use somewhere inbetween.

And no at 70C the life expectancy of the card is not affected in any way. The card will have gone through a 250c oven before its even fired up for the first time as part of the manufacturing process.

70c is nowt....

But as you say, that's just the manufacturing of the card, as there isnt any power going through the card.

Edit: How can the card be in between 2d and 3d clocks, if the card is 40c without muti monitor and 70c with multi monitor.?

I'm guessing its at 70C with 2 monitors because the fan isnt any faster than 2d clocks even though the clocks are higher. Might be wrong though LOL

Yup, default auto fan profile doesn't even start to increase fan speed at all until 70c, regardless of voltage or clocks.

70c or even 95c is not a problem, so there's no need to believe the internet full of amateur, tin-foil hat wearing nutters who constantly try to say otherwise.

I still havent ordered yet, as I keep on comming back to the "MSI 6950 Twin FrozR II 2GB", I know its quite abit slower and more expensive, but build quality looks better with the cooler and with that extra bit more memory too then the 480.

Ummmmmm

Nothing wrong with the build quality on the Asus GTX480 if that's swaying your thinking. I'm perfectly happy with the noise and heat, too, even overclocked. Of course, as others on here have clearly said, they're not so happy, so... you pays yer money you takes yer choice, I'm afraid... :)
