hi all
I know I have asked about these but as it's insurance claim and I have been messed about with most of the parts being replaced like for like I need some help.
I am worried the i3 is only 3.06ghz and mine is 3.4ghz do I need to tell the insurance it should be replaced with a chip that is 3.4ghz ?
thanks all

Simple clock speed is not everything, the i3 obliterates every single aspect of a P4 dual core. In CPU term you'll be getting more than double the performance.

A 1.8ghz core2duo would be a reasonable replacement for a 950, the i3 will wipe the floor with it!
Will also not be so toasty and power demanding... :D

if you manage to get an i3 out of them you are doing very well indeed.

if that's what they are offering don't argue and bite their hands of for it :)

Have a look at this comparison (using the 950's bigger, faster brother - the 955).

In all tasks the i3 is significantly better. Also, please bear in mind that clockspeed is irrelevant when comparing between different CPU architectures. Newer architectures are more efficient and carry out more instructions per clock cycle - hence lower clocked Core 2 Duos (never mind i3s) will be significantly faster in real-world tasks than a Pentium 4 based Pentium D.
