Hey there guys,

For many many years i have had the upmost respect for Bill Gates and the empire which he has created and succedded in "Apart From Vista". I have used and built PC's now for over 10 years. But after aquiring an Apple TV and seing the background software in it, I headed to the Apple Store in Belfast to check out a Macbook Pro. Right from the word go I was literally astounded. Steve Jobs has won me over. I came home and logged onto the Apple site from my PC "What A Cowardly Thing To Do" and ordered up my very first Macbook Pro 13". I Now cannot wait for the delivery to arrive at my door.

I have ordered up the following:

Macbook Pro 13"
Intel C2D 2.66Ghz
8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Ram
500GB Sata Drive

Magic Mouse
And Carry Case of Course.

Will Keep you all posted when she arrives.

Regards,

Andrew

nice purchase i made the switch a while ago and have never looked back i just love the whole mac experience from the software to the hardware :D

Its a slippery slope dude. Your story is the same as mine but it started with an iphone.

I now have:

27" iMac pimped up!
iPad
Iphone
Apple TV 2
Airport extreme

Welcome to the club.

Give the built in trackpad a decent try before using the mouse. It's so good I never have a mouse plugged in, personally.

I never understand why the vast majority people seem to think Mac and PC ownership is mutually exclusive.

But anyway, I'd have bought the stock 2.4Ghz model and done the RAM and HD upgrades myself - saving a small fortune in the process.

That said it's a very nice machine so enjoy. :)

About to order the same thing myself:

MBP 13"
Intel C2D 2.66GHZ
4GB RAM (Will upgrade it to 8GB myself - waaaaaay cheaper!)
320GB HD (Will upgrade this to SSD once Apple support TRIM)

Can't wait - just got to wait a few days for cash.

I couldnt see me moving back to pc after this, but i have to use pc for my job as a computer and network engineer so, maybe will have to talk boss into moving to OSX Server. :rolleyes.

Cant wait to get pics of setup put up here to see wot you guys think.

Should be Tuesday or Wed at the latest.

Speak Soon Dudes..

Regards

Andrew

Agreed. When I had my old HP Windows 7 laptop - I had to use a mouse as using the trackpad (As with every other trackpad on a PC laptop) was stupid and horrible.

On my new MacBook - I don't bother with a mouse as the glass trackpad on this removes the need for a mouse all together! :D

I did the jump a week or so ago - loving every moment and this laptop has blown me away with it's awesomeness and stuff...lol :D

I too have just switched over to a Mac - on Friday I headed over to the Apple store in the MetroCentre and purchased:

13" MacBook Pro
2.66GHz C2D
4GB RAM (Upgrading to 8GB myself)
320GB HDD (Upgrading to Seagate Momentus XT 500GB)
Mini-DP to DVI Adapter (£25! I felt a little bit ripped off :()
Incase slipcase

I absolutely love it, the trackpad is fantastic (why can't other manufacturers do similar?!) and the build quality is superb. I used to have an early MacBook that I got for nearly free but this is in a different league.

The prices in the Apple App Store are pretty damn good, already got Pixelmator for £18 and Braid for £3 - will be purchasing Apeture once the next payday comes around :)

I'm another MBP 13 owner (have been for a year) and the things I love about it are:

* The trackpad. Forget the mouse, you really won't need it (I hate Windows trackpads).
* The fact it starts up and shuts down in a few seconds, even on a slow 5400 hdd.
* The fact it can run my 30" Dell at it's fully 2560x1600 resolution when most Windows laptops can't (it's rare for a laptop to support dual link DVI).
* The magsafe adapter is great when someone trips over it.

Things I think could be improved:

* Why such a low screen res?
* Why isn't the magsafe cable longer? If I sit on my sofa and not using battery then I need to get an extension lead.

I headed to the Apple Store in Belfast...

It's a wonder you got looking at anything in the Belfast store, because anytime I've gone in, there is usually a queue 2-3 deep at each bit of gear to demo it...

Waiting for iPAD2 to appear which am most interested in...

Last time I was in the Belfast one there wasnt too many people in the downstairs looking at them (got too have a peak at the matt screen on my way up) upstairs was jammed though which ment getting my mac back and serviced took a while....

Either way its never as busy as the one back in old MK :p
