but a 2nd hand 2.0 GTI with a remap would the be same price as the 1.4 but even faster still.
Revo will take the 2.0 TFSI engine to 300bhp with a remap.
You can't really bring tuning into it because the same is true of both engines. Both are equally tunable. You say you'll never need that sort of power, but once you get used to it, more power is always exciting (unless you get enjoyment from some other factor like improved handling etc..)
i'd definately plump for the GT over the R. Especially if he thinks he'll be content with the 1.4 TSI.
My mate has a brand new Fabia VRS, got it literally last week and has had it on order for months. It doesnt really pull that hard, and as evo says the exhaust note is very plain. The gearbox is superb, and its crying out for a powerful engine to really take use of it.
