hi all,

since getting the new rig up and running i was debating on whether to add in some extra cooling, im not sure if my temps are good or bad, my cpu and ram loads are 28%. ive ordered 2 120mm fans for my antec 300 to pull in cool air and also an arctic freezer 7 pro but would just like a second opinion on the temps.

thanks guys

i havent really got anything to run that would be that demanding, unless there is a program i could use to tell?

ran intel burn on very high for 3 minutes and the temps were 95,98,91,97 cores 1-4.

good or bad?

Bad, what cooler are you using - not sure if I scanned past it.

I would have a go at re-seating the cooler.

Those temps are too high, I would change the cooler. I have the same cooler and it's not that good compared to newer ones (though it's a lot cheaper).

I try and keep temps under 70-75 in Prime. Most apps and games wont stress the CPU as much as prime so you can get a little bit higher in Prime if you wish as you won't reach those temps normally.

those temps are pretty high:
1. reseat cooler with a decent thermal paste (following instructions).
2. Run Prime large ffts and tell us the temps.
3. If >80 degrees change fans (I think thats what you were planning?)
4. If still high replace Heatsink/Fan...

ahh bugger, atm thats with the stock cooler, so my idling temps are around 40+ aswell.

i should have the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro in the post tomorrow and 2 fans for the front of the case, i will install them and post up the results.

cheers guys

little update, i have the freezer pro installed and wow what an improvement, none of the cores goes over 60C in the intel burn test set to very high. very pleased with this.

still have the two 120mm fans for the front to install.
