Hello,

I think I'm playing it a bit too close with my current 460W CM eXtreme Power Plus for ym rig, so looking to buy a new PSU.

Don't really want to spend more than £50, not fussed about being modular, and would prefer the PCI-E connectors to be 6pin.

Will be overclocking my Phenom II X4 and the HD6870, so some headroom would be nice.

The BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W looks about perfect, but I'm unsure of its connectors, and after quick 10second search couldn't find anything :p

Only other one I've seen new is the OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W - but again, haven't seen any reviews and have read that OCZ is withdrawing from PSU sector

There is a Seasonic 500W PSU for sale in the MM, but its 4 yrs old and has no warranty, so thinking stay clear of that one?

EDIT: The Akasa ES range...... Any good?

If there are other alternatives please let me know, but I would prefer they had 6pin PCI-E connectors as my HD6870 requires two of them, and don't want to have to buy adapters on top of the PSU!

Thanks,
Cookeh

OMG!!! you know the answer to this.

I'm just making sure! And wanted to know about the connectors :p EDIT: Seems the BeQuiet only has 1 PCI-E connector?

Also, reviews would be nice, and wanted to as about the Akasa ES range, they look good :p :D

OCZ aren't withdrawing from the PSU market. Where did you hear that? And even if they did they would honour their warranties.

IMO the Antec is worth the extra £6 due to the higher efficiency, and probably being of a superior build quality Seasonic vs FSP. Also I haven't seen a review of it that is as in depth as the reviews available of the Seasonic S12II Bronze.

P.S. Stulid, where did you get that diagram from? I'm curious as I like collecting diagrams like that.

OMG!!! you know the answer to this.

Oh stop bullying me, I posted mine without a refresh! :p

I think you definitely deserve the bullying, considering it's clearly going to be the bequiet 530 :p

BeQuiet it is then.

Now just need to buy it without parents noticing :p

And So it begins... Within a couple of months at being at Uni you'll be running an i5 with a 580 :p

It was just a rumor, I wasn't sure myself :p wasn't expecting the need to bring a flame-proof suit though!

Went for the 530W in the end, BeQuiet has some good reviews (pain in the rear to find) and is very quiet. In the end not really bothered about efficiency - not when parents PC isn't even 70% rated, and my old one was less efficient than the BeQuiet, and sounds irritates me more :p

RJC, I hope not in all honesty, but it's possible - will have to stay on their good side a while.

KD, this PC will not be touched (expect for case) until I find something this PC can't do to more liking :p
