Need some advice. College just stung me with a £400 bill...

Basically I dropped out of college a month after joining; as Im over 18 I had to pay for the course on a month by month basis. (I left because I will joining the navy long before the course ends but no need to get into that).

Now £280 odd of that is for the qualification which according to the college the examining board charge it to the college on day 1 and there is no way to claim it back.

Ive rang edexcel (the examining board) and theyve confirmed this to be true.

Basically Im screwed... :(

(citizens advice couldnt help either)

Sounds like you're gonna have to take it on the chin and pay up.

Edit: The worst thing you could do is ignore it and not pay. The last thing you want is a bad mark on your credit file, in the current climate mortgages etc are hard enough to get.

Looks like you have got to pay £400. To be honest you should have looked at the penalties for dropping out before you took on the responsibility and definitely before you dropped out.

A lesson learnt my friend I'm afraid.

Someone could have missed out on that placement because they saved it for you, they would have paid the total so you will have to

Can they actually enforce this debt or do they have the same "power" as gyms where they send you idle threats about debt collectors because you cancelled your membership without giving them 10 years notice?

Sounds like someone didn't read the small print ;)
