Hey everybody im looking for some advice towards a week long tour of the most important places in the battlefields of europe ,
Has anyone done anything like this

Looking to start with ferry from newcastle.

Trying to fit in the main normandy beaches,battle of the bulge,pegasus bridge,eagles nest and marginot line

Not sure if its possible, would have liked to homage at aushwitz but might be too far .

Any help be really app thanks .
 
the eagles nest is way way way from all those othe ones

i've been to the normandy beaches, bastogne, the somme battlefield -(36 ulster div monument) but would like to get to see 'arbeit macht frei' some day

Well, id suggest go to Volgograd, that was one of the most important battles of WW2, over 2million casualties including civilians within 6months.

Entire UK + US (military + civilian) losses during WW2 is about 0.9million
 
Its just too far for driving mate was thinking of flying to krakow the train to germany then again to france
 
Normandy is definately a fantastic place to start if yyou are into all that. Ive been twice and there is loads to see. Played golf around there and omaha beach golf club is absolutely fantastic. I recommend point du hoc, pegasus bridge museum and omaha beach. Omaha beach in particular as you only understand the true scale of what it must have been like once you see those terrifying cliffs for real and not just in a film or in a photo.

A workmate of mine is visiting the somme later this year, his great uncle was one of the vc winners who served in the 36th ulster division.
 
Easily the gloomiest day of my life. Was snowing all day as well. Really made the whole aura of the place quite heavy on the emotions.
