Hey,
I've got an old value pc with an intergrated GPU (Geforce 8100 mGPU) but can't find that much information on it and would like to upgrade the graphics of it. All I can find is that it is possible to upgrade it with an Nvidia card, but the cards I can use I'm not sure on. Anyone know?

is it a AGP or PCI-E slot on the motherboard?

there must be a make and model number on the motherboard pcb somewhere? usually between the expansion slots or near the ram slots.

Thanks for the reply. There's 1 PCI-E slot, and the motherboard make is as the title as far as I know, Geforce 8100, it's there own board. Is the graphics card it can handle only limited by the slot and the wattage or is there other factors?

most graphic cards these days take an external power connecter from the psu as well as the juice they suck from the slot(which has a maximum, think its 75watts)

some high end cards actually have two power connectors to get the wattage they need.

so if you can find out what make/model/wattage your psu is? you could fit a selection of graphic cards, even a low end 5750/5770 card would work with low power psu's as they are very energy efficient.

just depends on your budget.

Thanks for the help. I understand the CPU may hold it back, but with the knowledge that it'll take a pretty good GPU it should preform a lot better.
